The new Xbox's still have a 30 percent failure rate its Laughably high

The PS3 has a 16 percent failure rate its appalling

The Wii is the only console where the failure rate is even at a barely acceptable level.

Pour Shame

Where did you get the 16% failure rate for the PS3 figure from?

Thanks.  My fault for not paying attention enough to something I am tired of reading about over and over 16% failure rate struck me as too high from what I have seen before.

That's OK man.

I have to say though, although i don't own an XBOX360, I never believed the 60% failurerate. But it looks more and more like it is real.

If you want to extend your xbox's lifespan, never take it to college. In fact, just don't move it from the room it was placed in.

I'm totally invested in the idea of never purchasing a home console with the microsoft label ever again.

These articles are as misleading as the news when it says so many people have died from the H1N1 vaccine. In the vaccine case, they count anyone who has died and who has received the H1N1 vaccine. So if you got hit by a bus and took the vaccine, you're counted. So that's how that is misleading.

In this surveys case, it's misleading because:

1. Self selected means people opted into it which means people that have more emotions are the ones willing to participate. That means people who have had their 360's fail are more willing to participate.
2. They merely say broken down-- that could RRoD, the person kicking their 360, or any number of things.
3. Even if 60% were true, that does not mean that if you buy a 360 today it has a 60% chance of failing. That poll should cover all models of the 360. For all we know the 40% that didn't fail could all be new ones.

So yes, again, this survey is stupid and unreliable but I'm sure fanboys will still use it in forum e-penis wars. -_-

And yes, I want that plushie.

-edit-

And it does make me laugh that 60% of the time an article is posted that puts a console in a negative light the person who posted that article doesn't even own the console in question...

Surely as a mod you realize that last comment refers to what is a basic law of the forums.  Anyone posting dubious but potentially really bad news about a console must not themselves have ever owned said console.

Meh, the edit was a side note observation but it does have to do with the article.

I'm not saying anything about the OP, I have no idea of his intentions and I don't actualyl care, but someone who doesn't like a console is much more willing to post the negative article than someone who doesn't hate it or just owns it.

''Sixty per cent of Xbox 360s have kicked the red-ringed bucket, compared to 16 per cent of PS3s and just 6 per cent of Wiis, according to our survey on the reliability of games consoles in the UK.

CNET UK commissioned the survey last month -- and the results don't reflect well on the Microsoft console. Some 1,128 UK-based console owners responded, of whom 562 owned Xbox 360s, 473 owned PS3s and 591 had Wiis (some owned more than one).

Of those Xbox owners who have bought their Xbox since January 2008, 34 per cent report that their Xboxes have broken -- still double the lifetime failure rate of the PS3. Microsoft introduced new components in late 2007 and early 2008, when Bill Gates boasted of the Xbox's newfound "incredible reliability". Our survey shows that while the console has improved, it's still far from reaching Gates' goal of being the "most reliable video game box out there".

Only 25 per cent of disappointed 360 owners had owned the console for more than 18 months before it broke, with 47 per cent reporting a failure inside a year. Seventy two per cent returned their Xbox to Microsoft, who extended the 360's warranty to three years after the console's problems became widely known. Fifteen per cent sought their own solution, such as repairing it themselves or giving up and throwing it under a bed. One miserable gamer reported, "I can't afford to get (the Xbox 360) fixed as it is out of warranty, so it sits in the spare room all lonely."

Many 360 owners report the console breaking more than once. Of those whose console has broken at least once, 32 per cent say it has broken twice, and 19 per cent say it has broken three times or more. One person said their 360 "was repaired six times before (being) refunded by Microsoft".

Of those who have bought a 360 in the last two years, only for it to break, 29 per cent say it has broken more than once"

what a story, thanks for wasting our time with ps3 fanboy numbers...

Let me take a survey around my friends, 100% of ps3 failed and didn't get into the 3 month warranty.

same as the one you pulled up, numbers can be fabricated. MS made good on there screw up, sony made bad on the ps2 and screwed way more then M$ ever did. look it up droid.

These surveys are complete crap, first look at all the trolling ps3 fans. The mantality of ps3 fans makes any poll like this a shame. the same guy will make fifty accounts just to talk trash. You see it all the time on N4G.com you can have one disagree but have five bubbles disappear for saying My xbox never broke.

Thats why I'm done trying to have a adult conversation with these people, I just will talk trash and make people get all flamed out.

As for the extra accounts I don't have time for that bull----,  when they take all my bubbles I will just make a new account when needed.

Also would like to add that, what a lot of people you got there, not close to the millions of people that own the system, so while all this is great for your biased point of views, it still doesn't prove or mean sh--. These numbers are not even what xbox sells in a day......

good try ps3 turds. also u turd s only have a 90 day warranty, so good luck.

Uh oh Twesterm is trolling!

BAN THE MOFO OR GTFO!!!

lol nah, im kidding. Surveys are about as usefull as me, Kantor,Badgnome.

Yes, but given the fact that there are FAR more PS3 fanboys on the internet. And most 360 fans are too busy playing games to bother with the plethora of PS3 fanboys fapping over a chance to troll the 360.

So why aren't you playing games, but instead you are on the internet fapping over a chance to troll reasoning?  I say this because it is only your OPINION that "that there are FAR more PS3 fanboys on the internet."  But another way of looking at it is to say that there are that there are FAR more gamers on the internet that will offend fanboys when antedodal truth be told that the 360 has the worst reliability rate.  So any smart shopper should be cautious to buy one.  Sounds pretty reasonable doesn't it?  Hard to swallow, isn't it?  No other source has sited otherwise without some form of testing.
