Well there are poor countries where people can barely manage to pay for a console or a pc and if you do manage to buy one you find the games way too expensive. A PS3 costs me 2 of my paychecks. When you spend that much money you'd think you'd get many games for free, but then you wonder "Wow I spent so much money just buying this console and now I have to spend a ton just for 1 single game". You could say that if you can't afford it then don't bother with it, but people like to enjoy some of the worlds trends. I'm only speaking for the poor countries here though. Piracy rate of my country is around 97%. There aren't even any game stores here anymore since everyone just pirates.

People will stop pirating eventually...........................sadly when console makers are fed up and stop making gaming devices

i can only agree that its WAY to expensive for the poor countrys and its up to Nintendo/Sony & the big M to sort that out for them. 

i still dont agree that they should pirate but if everyone there did. something might get done lol

Funny thing about music vs video game piracy. In the music industry it is commonplace to pay $10-15 for a new CD that has one or two "hits" on it, thus forcing you to purchase a ton of content you don't care for. As a result, users started downloading only the songs they cared about, and thus CD sales dropped. Ironically, surveys and polls have since determined that users who download/swap/steal the songs they actually like (and that you can hear on the radio for free anyways...) are way more likely to purchase music (and infact, through itunes etc, do purchase) than users who do not steal/download/swap music. So in all true reality, its the music pirates that spend the most money on music anyways. Whereas video game pirates typically are pirating the games to make a profit for themselves and to take away from the industry as a whole. To compare music to video game media just doesn't work quite the same.

I have never owned a pirated game. doubt that I ever will. never has been an interest of me. heck, dont even have any music that i have never bought.

how bad is piracy on PS3 and Wii? i havent looked into this

To modify a Wii is as simple as modifying a PSP. But piracy isnt killing Wii sw sales is it?
It all depends on the audience.

PS3 is not crackable atm.

My opinion:
Somebody who creates copies for the sake of makin business/ money is a criminal.

@Uberkiffer, this is exatcly what this article here says http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=91173, and I think it aplies to videogames too, except in the poor countries case, where we really can´t afford to buy the games on retail, it´s too expensive.
