I'm just stating what has unfortunately happened to me.
I had the X360 for a lil over a year but it failed on me just before GoW2 came out (RROD)
I bought a PS3 April this year thinking I don't want to give MS more of my money....but it failed on me this weekend (My bro and I just got MW2). When you power it on you get a red screen saying a serious error has occurred.
The biggest problem here is that I live in Trinidad. Both companies require me to ship the Console to a point person in the U.S.A, and all further correspondance will be between that person and the manufacturer. Problem is, it's gonna cost me almost the price of a console to ship it to U.S.A, and probably the same cost to ship it back. Not to mention taht I don't have a point person close enough to burden with this. I also don't want to burden travellers to 'carry it for me' or 'bring it back for me'. Even if I were to get it fixed and shipped back to me, it'll have to pass through customs and they'll buss my arse wide open.
So basically, I can't really fix it through warranty that easily. Down here is not very reknowned for having good 3rd party technical support, I fear they may actually worsen the situation than alleviate. In the small chance that we would actually get it fixed through warranty is the reason why I would keep the PS3 intact right now. The 360 however, well, we kinda took it upon ourselves to fix it so that warranty is definitely void.
I feel like we've (my bro and i) wasted so much fucking money on these two consoles. Maybe it's the climate in the region or something. I know the 360 has had its issues but I didn't expect that from the PS3.
Thank god my Wii and PC have roughed it out over the years and have still remained faithful to me.
So yea, at the risk of sounding like a troll, which I'm sure I will, I'd say Wii+PC FTW. At least that's what my experience has led me to think. Can you blame me? Yea at the end of the day it could jus be bad luck. But for my unique circumstance, I can't help but be pissed.
