Rockstar founder talks GTA V for first time
We’ve all moved on from GTA IV now, right? The latest installment of the long-running Grand Theft Auto series was a massive hit last year but the release of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 means GTA IV has now been superseded as the fastest-selling game of all time. But don’t worry, as GTA V is on the way, although it may be further away than some people have assumed.
In an interview with The Times, Rockstar founder Dan Houser spoke about the series as a whole and how it’s treated by the media and rent-a-quote politicians. He said:
"The game evolved out of our love of watching live car chases on TV, or American movies and so on. The game is set in a world that is like the world would be if it were the way the media says it is. The audience is getting past 30 so it all becomes a bit silly. That’s not to say that all games are for all people; we’ve never said that. GTA has always been rated 18 and we’ve always been very happy with that.
He didn’t actually have much to say about Grand Theft Auto V but it appears that the Rockstar team hasn’t actually begun work on the next installment of the game as yet. All Houser said about the game was, “We’ll think of a city first, then the characters.” Which implies GTA V is still at the planning stages and that those rumors about where it’ll be set are hokum.
Still, Houser’s mere mention of the game is enough to get my juices flowing. GTA IV is a masterpiece and GTA V will surely be another gem in the gaming landscape – wherever it’s set and whoever the characters end up being.
Sounds like this game is a along way from being released.
