It's pretty difficult to people to buy a game when they don't even know when it's getting released. Now that we have a solid release date pre-order sales should go much higher this week duo to fans and stay stable in the following weeks duo the word of mouth between players. GOW3 already had a release date from a good time. 

 

Well, this game is going to be that kind of title that will have a good first week and still hold legs, like halo 3 and GTA IV did, so people that have this game in top of their lists are going to buy it in month of release, than, people that want the game but don't have that high priority are going to get it once they get their main games first and FFXIII prices starts to drop. Word of Mouth is pretty important as well.

Did you seriously just compared FF13 sales to GTA IV and Halo 3 ?

The HD consoles have a strong line up next Q1. I think to strong. If you are a gamer who like play games in different genres you will be screwed because their is no way you can afford them all (or you must saved some money) this is bad for the industry aswell. We may not forget that games as Bioshock will release then aswell, and about the PS3 part games like ToV and SOIV will come aswell.

I  compared how the sales of those titles works, like, Halo 3 did a excellent first week and still hold legs. GTA IV did a super first week and still hold legs. I'm not comparing number of sales, I really would like to FFXIII first week to beat MW2, but i'll know it isn't going to happen.

GT5 is in March for Japan only.....

Well by your definition almost every game in the west has good legs since GTA IV's legs in the US are not that great.

For me a game that sells 3.5 million first week and even than is able to double it first week had good legs. And US is the leg country anyway.

Both the PS3&360 version almost sold half of their NA LTDs in the first week.

So many releases have been moved to or are in March, its insane TBH.

BF:BC2 for one. Agarest War for another, which is silly on Aksys part cause FF will eat Agarest sales not vice versa. Starcraft 2 is a big one...... CnC4 also in march... and I know I am forgetting some.

I do think it is a terrible time for FF...

Honestly though the game will probably do well, it will not do nearly as well as it could. They better hope all the chopping and re-arranging they did to the ps3 version to equalize it with the Xbox version made it into the JPN ps3 version , cause heavens help them if JPN gets the original and only NA gets the watered down... it will get ugly.

Q1 2010 is definitely packed !
