Just Activision thinking about expanding revenue and not about expanding customers...

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

Xbox owners already pay to play MW2 online

Actually we pay to play a lot of games online, but at the mere $38.99 a year, divided by 12 =  $3.25 (rounded up) Per month. Then say I have 5 games that I love to play online...well each game costs me a mere 65 cents a month to play online...using your logic of course.

Anyway If they did that, they would fail...hard.

A mere 38.99? It's actually $50 the last time i checked. (5 min ago on best buy and gamestop sites)

And ps3 is free online, so I guess if your happy paying $50 for party chatting, then thats cool.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

oh great like MW2 didnt suck enough now they want to charge fees too??? wow!!! i am done with this franchise now damn gold diggers should go to hell

Hell on MW2 isnt that good. No game alone is good enough to start paying to play online.

Oh and i take it Activision = most hated company now.

Activision is the worst company there is now. They make EA look godly in comparison.

Do it, and destroy your own franchise along with it.

THIS

I can see them trying this with the PS3 and maybe the Wii. However 360 owners shouldnt since they already pay a fee for playing online...which that fee should be used to maintain the servers the games are being played on. However if they expect me to pay then ill pass..

lol, you know i wont be online, theres a reason i dont have an xbox360 and it will be the same reason why i stop playing cod

aha fuck that. If that happens I'm never buying another cod game. I love the game but I'm not paying for it beyond the initial purchase and maybe the new map packs when they come.

the online play as is, full of lag and other annoying oddities, is not worth a single cent.

Quick question. How many of you actually read the linked article before posting? None of you? Typical. Here's the final three paragraphs:

"I think it's been mutually beneficial, and you should expect us to test and ultimately launch additional online monetization models of some of some of our biggest franchises like Call of Duty."

According to the Activision CFO, there is a demand from its core fanbase to pay for additional services.

"Our gamers are telling us there's lots of services and innovation they would like to see that they're not getting yet. From what we see so far, additional content, as well as all the services Blizzard is offering, is that there is demand from the core gamers to pay up for that," he said.

They're obviously talking about services past the offerings they are giving now, not making people pay for what they currently offer. Next time read folks.
