The terra song did have a drawback too...Once you hear it for hours straight as you wander in the overworld at the World of Balance, it kinda starts to annoy you :P

Now Aria di Mezzo Carattere > Every song in FF

@Riachu: A shell of it's former self. The lack of Sakaguchi's influence and the increased influence of Nomura has changed the atmosphere of the games. FFX was mired with annoying characters and a predictable linear story, and while it was visually great, had good combat and character development systems, etc, it just didn't 'feel' like it's predecessors. FFXII suffers similar problems, the story is to detached, the combat is less then steller, and once again the story was predictable and just not very enjoyable. I miss what FF use to be.

Well thankfully it looks like Final Fantasy Gaiden for DS, made by a totally independent team not connected to Nomura, is trying to kind of revive  to 'old' Final Fantasy style.  But yes, on the whole, Final Fantasy is nowhere near what it use to be.  Though in some ways, that's good, as the entire point of the series was to constantly push the envelope and evolve.  That's how it set itself apart from its competition initially (from series such as Dragon Quest and Phantasy Star) and remain in its current position.  But along the way, it did seem to focus so much on graphics and storyline that it forgot about allowing the player to, you know....play the game and have fun.

I think FFX and XII, while having very unique and engaging battle engines, were also some of the most dialogue heavy RPGs out there.  Aside from probably Final Fantasy Tactics and Suikoden V (that's 3 out of 4 being FF games).

did xenogears and xenosaga suddenly stopped existing?

I forgot to mention Persona 4.  One part of the game(the events of december 3rd and right after) had a 45 minute cutscene followed by a save point followed by another 45 minute cutscene

God those games were amazing. Hopefully we see Persona 5 next year...btw is Xenosaga any good? Im thinking of picking up the Xenosaga series as well as Vagrant Story pretty soon

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

This songs still gives me goosebumps after so many years :) I just can't picture anyone not liking this it

Yet another FF game I'm not playing. Seriously, the last one I played and enjoyed was FF6 on SNES. I actually played it after FF7 and loved that too. I despised 8. Never got around to 9 and thought 10 was pretty ok. I just could not really get into it since I was playing lots of other stuff. However, when I saw my sister playing FF12, I knew I was never coming back. Unless they make a Mario Kart Wii version of FF(going back to their roots), I don't think that will change.

All we want are interesting characters, nice battle system, great music and varied worlds. No if possible CG cutscenes and all that nonsense. NO Crying characters.

For me no FF character list has topped Sabin, Edgar, Locke, Celes, Terra, Gau etc. Heroes were truly heroes. That is why I like the look of FFCC since it reminds me more of some of these games though it is not exactly there yet.

For this reason my favourite RPG of the 3D generation is still Skies of Arcadia Legends for GC. Characters and setting is the best in a long time.

Just goes to prove my point. SquareEnix can screw over all their other franchises. But the only time people actually step up and start caring is when anything is changed or left out of a Final Fantasy game.

There is no other SE franchise that matters more than FF.

Its that mentality that's killing all the other franchises in SE.  When people only care about FF.

And in this case, just one song was changed.  Whereas in other games, entire games content was altered from names being changed to half the dialogue missing.

Simply saying 'it doesn't matter unless it happens to Final Fantasy' is no excuse.  It gives them a reason to keep doing it UNTIL they start doing it to Final Fantasy.

Let me say it like this: why should I care if they change games I dont play? I care about FF because FF is the game I will be playing, and a lot of people will be playing it too and they care.

OT: the song sucks, I hate these singers and their stuff. Out of all the artists they couldve chosen they chose this typical pop/R&B singer, anyways I never liked the inclusion of non orchestal songs in these games, but kiss me goodbye was better than this, but like I said, the orchestal OST is really good so it doesnt matter a lot to me.

Let me repeat myself.

Simply saying 'it doesn't matter unless it happens to Final Fantasy' is no excuse.  It gives them a reason to keep doing it UNTIL they start doing it to Final Fantasy.

Which they are doing now.  Oh, and have been doing.  Most people just didn't care because they grew up with stuff like 'spoony bard' and 'whatever' and think they're canon.  When they're completely altered from the Japanese version.

Ignorance makes for tollerance.

I didnt say it didnt matter, I said I dont care, and of course I dont care when I dont even play those games, from SE I just play FF and KH, and I just care if they change those.

Not caring is essentially the same as saying 'it doesn't matter'.  In fact, saying 'I don't care' is worse, because its stating you choose to ignore and choose to accept what's going on.

But whatever, that's your choice.  And its your choice to allow them to keep altering their games, including Final Fantasy, because you refuse to care.

Do YOU care if they change a game which you have never played and don't even want to play? I'm sure you don't because then you would have to boycott every gaming company in the world. You should boycott company for changing a game which you have never played and hate the whole game type. For example you should boycott company for changing some random FPS game you have never even heard of on a console you don't have although you never even play FPS games. In fact, you care about changing those franchises because you care about them. If you wouldn't like any of those franchises, you wouldn't care either.

DQ 8 is a close second for me though

@dspartan

No crying Final Fantasy characters? You know that FFVI characters are the ones with the biggest amount of emotion in it? Cyan's family death? Locke losing his girlfriend Rachel? Celes losing her companion at the World of Ruin? Terra's sadness once she learns the truth about the empire and their imprisonment of the Espers?

@akvod

I still prefer the MIDI, mainly for nostalgia reasons :) But the Orchestrated song is more powerful than the MIDI.
