Seems like more and more people feel that they should get things for free. Especially if they feel the item doesn't live up to their arbitrary expectations.

Exactly.  And all they are going to do by pirating it, rather than just not buying it, is give developers more of an excuse to move development to consoles or implement even more DRM.

Yes, at this rate PC gaming will be a thing of the past.

shio won't let that happen!

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Does 1 million more or less really matter in this case? ;)

depends - does 50 million dollars sound like it really matters to anyone?

They make shitloads of profit out of it anyways. And it's not safe to say, that everyone who pirated it would have bought it if they didn't have the possibility.

Maybe my opinion is a little unpopular on that topic, but I really don't feel bad for that stuff - not for so big companies and games. I just think it sucks if you download smaller (independent) companies' games, or don't pay for any games at all.

That's not the amount of all time.... that's just for the year of 2008. CoD4 was released in 2007 and with this many pirated copies of MW2 on PC in just the first week... I imagine the total number of CoD4 pirated copies far exceeds 1.5 million.

I see you edited the OP.  Good

Now as far as total CoD4 pirates, if MW2 (a much less popular title on PC thanks to IW) has 640k in the first few days, after one month it will probably be about 1 million or more pirated PC copies.  Then after a full year it will likely be about 2 million pirated copies or more.

Shio will not be pleased.

Eh, that seems like a bit of a stretch depending on how accurate that chart is.  If it did do another 700k, I'd assume a lot of those people had deleted it and are just redownloading (which is probably true for the first 800k as well).

Don't make excuses for pirates, they are dirty sub-beings with no moral compass.

Fact: Earthbound is the greatest game ever made

Probably deserved on the PC.

Hiking the price up for a very below par game.

Are you poking fun at my earlier post or are you serious here?

you place of employment approaches you and says, "you have been doing some excellent work we would like like to give you a raise."  obviously your responce will have to be, "No thank you.  I already make enough money to pay the bills."

besides, for every massively successful game that is released there are probably 10 financial failures.  The massive profit of one game is what allows a company like this to experient with new IPs and less popular niche titles without the thread of bankrupcy.  then again, how many game companies have already gone belly up this year.
