When you can emulate Starcraft 2 perfectly on a 360 , let me know. Until then, PC gaming will persist.

It won't faint obviously, it just won't happen with few hundred millions (or how many?) of electronic devives on the market that capable of gaming. But denying serious changes of PC game market over the last decade is pointless. Retail business shifted heavily towards home consoles (and I doubt DLC compensates much), but MMOs filled the niche and growing at a fast pace.

The retail of PC is transitioning into digital distribution. It's not that the consoles are taking retail over PC, just that PC's sales are evolving into the form of digital distribution. Consoles are also starting to take the same path, although it will take a while to reach where PC has.

They don't share, but there are companies like DFC that are paid to make estimations. in 2008, 22% of total PC games revenue was from Digital Distribution, while 24% was from Retail.
This means that today DD is bigger than retail on PC. What's most important is that Digital Distrubtion is growing so fast, that not only does it cover the steep decline on Retail, but it also gives a very healthy increase in total profits of Retail+DD revenue.
Here's an article about it: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2009/07/20/develop-09-is-digital-distribution-the-pc-saviour/
