What about 100hz panels? Do you think it is needed for gaming?

I liked the Sony better than the Samsung by a hair, and went with a Bravia XBR model myself.

A friend of mine liked it so much he bought one as well, we both use them as PC monitors.. though I ofc have my PS3 on it as well. Works pretty well...

Sony is good for use as monitor.

Honestly you will have a hard time going "wrong" if you stick to the good brands. Your best bet is to try and examine them in person, because it is the subtleties like vibrance and color tone etc that really seem to make one favorable over another... and part of that is personal taste.

Also, 120mhz is not needed... they are nice, but not needed as long as you have a high end model that has really good CPU... I do not have any blur on my Sony, its a 60hz with 8ms B2B response time.

If its a Sony 120hz model, he either has a setting really screwed up somewhere or a bad  cable.

thx for all the tipps :)

as far as i can see, Samsung seems to be one of the best choices, and Sony and LG come close.
i will watch out for these, thanks again.
