they do deserve respect just because they make money dose not make them the devil

Because, if you read Wheelstriker's post, he was referring to them as a game company, so it only makes sense to talk about a few other game companies, and it made me curious what he respects and doesn't respect in a game company. I wanted to see if he has any respect for any of the other console manufacturers, or if his disrespect was aimed only at MS, and why.

I would like to believe this isn't a rant, but honestly, that's all you do.

well Bill Gates praised Steve Jobs and said he is the nr1 guy in his views and also said when he worked at mac it was exciting and stuff
but he also took shots at him occasionally as well :)

XD! really, I think you should get to know your precious $ony more. They have done some pretty disgusting things as a business. But then, if you knew anything at all about companies, you would realize that most companies are guilty of trying to screw over consumers just to increase their bottom line.

So...now, would you care to tell us exactly why MS is the worst thing to ever happen to computing? No really, I want to hear this!

BTW, Squilliam brought Sony into this because he was trying to figure out how biased you really are...thanks for showing your true colors! 

First of all, 7 is excellent.

Second, yes, MS copied, so did Apple, so what?

Third, MS deserves as much respect as Sony, Apple, etc. In fact, I love MS. People can bash Gates all they want, but he is a good citizen and very charitable. Much moreso than, say, Steve Jobs. Wozniak, on the other hand, is a cool guy, and the REAL heart of Apple. Jobs is a wannabe.

Last, for those saying that MS ruined the industry, people said the same thing about Sony a decade and a half ago. Look how true that was.

most large companies are the same, ms is just the king of using other companies ideas, for the people who want to pull sony in to the mix, sony was the company who brought CDs in to the mix, made the first cd players, beta, technologhy that failed then came the vcr, the first camcarters, portible cd players , walkman, , sony did not copy any other companies on these ideas. when nintendo and sony started working on the video system, years ago, it was not sony who screwed nintendo, it was the other way around. sony is not perfect , no company is, nut you can not even compare ms and sony when it comes to ethics.

MS deserves respect for 2 things

1. The Idea of an operating system that wasn't so bundled with the system so that it was basically firmware or so obtusely complicated that it required a degree in computer science to understand. They commoditized system software.

2. Keeping a stable framework so that even most DOS programs (that were designed for a different kernel) can still run without recompiling them 20 years later. The fact that i can run a game like Odell down under for DOS under windows 7 is just incredible and the best part is what can't be run using the native DOS VM can be run in DOSBOX.

he could have another one... for all we know :/
