Unless you consider Christians to be Jews, as Ann Coulter does (See Page 8 footnote of her book "Godless"), it isn't a Jewish text.  It is a Christian one.  Anyhow, if you want something Jewish, try this:

Well, i don't think christians are jews, but i wasn't gonna say "the book about jew/pagan/gentile/christian/greek/roman/etc. fairy tales" so i picked what's believed to be the most writers in the bible and the predecessors of christianity... I know Paul is according to the bible a pagan transformed into christian once Jesus appeared to him... But that's not my original point, my point was that in all the thigs that book says, 1 Corinthians 13 is one of the best found in there...

BTW Ann Coulter is hilarious, and when she argues with Bill Maher (her friend) it's even funnier, plus she's easy on the eyes...

You can say I was nitpicking there, mainly out of my memories of what Coulter wrote, and if someone is going to call a religious text a "fairy tale" there might as well be some accuracy in what was said.  "Christian fairy tale" may of been better.  Anyhow, I am not going to comment more.   I will say, you may of benefitted by paraphrasing what Penn of Penn and Teller said about the Bible:

Penn: It's fair to say that the Bible contains equal amounts of fact, history, and pizza.

On the note of religious games, I was interested in seeing someone do a SimChurch game, where you end up trying to build a Christian mega-church, and you can end up having different doctrinal beliefs spelled out. Part of the reason why this probably isn't being done is that some individuals would try to emulate Jonestown with the game. Even if you didn't allow Kool-Aid in the game, someone would attempt to go there. Hail Bob.

Fair enough.

I remember that Penn & Teller episode. It was one of the best.

About the SimChurch game that's actually a good idea, i would even expand it to other religions and beliefs. I always thought about a religious wars RTS, just because i love me a good RTS, but your idea is really interesting.

Am I like the only Christian in this thread?

I'm not suprised that the Bible has been made availible through yet another medium. At least the developers aren't out to turn a major profit at 400 points its not going to wrake in that much dough.

I'll leave all the darwinism crap out because I just know if I start contradicting Darwin I'm going to have a million blind moron's trying to insult me. So Darwin was a smart intellectual and theologyst lets leave it at that.

I was really hoping for some Bible based software, maybe a David and Goliath game or a game like Left Behind or maybe another "The Bible Game". Honestly I didn't care to see another way to read the Bible I already own three and have the internet. I don't need yet another Bible!

considering how violent the first testament was, it kind of a shame that we don't have more of these games based on it. i guess in the end it is still a touchy subject.

those Wisdom tree games were underground since they were never approved for the nes by Nintendo. Most of the time they were just knock offs of pre-existing games.

The nature of the Christian faith, with it producing megachurches, lends towards being a sim game.   Of course, one could end up doing more mainline churches also, and be a pastor for the church, and manage needs, have to work a second job, because you don't get paid enough money, battle sin and the like.  What would be interesting is you run the game through a lense that what the church teaches is true, and you adjust based on the denomination.  Like, if you are Penticostal, you end up actually having God intervening more in more signs and wonders sort of war.  If you are Lutheran, it would be different, and you allow women ministers there.  And it goes on.  Sell different faiths as expansion packs.  I believe people have approached Rick Warren, who wrote "The Purpose Driven Church" about this, but he has declined.

Once the Christian faith is able to be translated, then someone else could do other faiths, such as Judiaism, Buddhism, or Islam.  Or you can create your own wacky cult.  What I had envisioned here is a simulator different seminaries could use in the Christian faith.

In regards to religious wars, I feel it would be good to do more sim-history stuff, and have religion be a bigger role.  You could show the impact religion had in shaping the belief systems of society and show the impact of beliefs on value systems, and how societies shape themselves.  And then sort out this from that.  Maybe a place for that would be a Civ4 mod.  In Civ4, religion is t here, but doesn't impact culture in any way, except giving a generic boost to things.  The subject isn't touched, because of fears of protests.  End result is you are left with games that are poor knock-offs of other games, but with a religious theme.  They border on being like porn games.

I would say Dante's Inferno might be the closest thing we have seen to a religious game as a game that stands on its own right.

A game based on the life of David, or a Sim game based on the life of Solomon (state management), where you build up Israel, would be interesting.  However, people get offended no matter how much it is handled, so it ends up not being done.  I also think no one is sure how to exactly simulate God in the game, and do it so it honestly fits the text, and do it reverently (anyone who is in hatred of the Bible isn't going to handle the Bible well, but will look through it with a lens of hate).  Only those who revere the text really feel compelled to do something with it.

The way the Indie Games work, it enables things like the Bible product to be done.  You likely won't see such things on the PS3 or Wii (maybe the DSi), because of how they work.

As far as who is a Christian in here or not, I don't know if one is fit to end up trying to judge that.  I am not even going to go there.  I may be quantified as marginal, if anything in that front.  Anyhow, please don't bring up evolution here.  This thread isn't about that, and I don't want to see it end up into a discussion over ID, or whatever.  I also don't think there are a million people on here, and I would recommend NOT calling people who consider evolution valid "blind morons".
