Now, CGI, did you know the PS3 sold 600k in the Slim first week, and has maintained a 240k plus sales each week  ww since then? Amazing right.

 

New excuse? Read my first post. I mention they're losing billions in the process. And that's the only way they can manage to meet the same numbers as past consoles.

Will you be there with us to celebrate the PS3 reaching 30 million this year?  that's more losses......

Well it doesn't deserve praise.

Before this gen began I would have bet the farm PS3 would walk out this gen victorious.

Little did I know Sony would have to take huge losses to sell a fraction of their past consoles.

With the losses the PS3 has made Nintendo could have just given the N64, GC and sega the SAT and DC and still not made such a huge loss.

Also giving away millions and millions of consoles in the process. Oh and with all the money Nintendo made with the Wii imagine how many they could give away for free before they are in the red for this gen?

Let it go dude, it's already 3 years into this Gen, deal with it, Sony is the one losin the money, not you or the fans. The company know they are losing money and they are trying.

you want to help, buy those great games Sony has been giving us. They make money that way.

Yes. I pointed out the PS3 sales in Japan overall aren't great.

The Saturn, Gamecube, and N64 aren't exactly considered successful in Japan yet the PS3 is about equal to what they're doing. Sony is struggling to get there even while taking huge losses.

Even if its reaches the 6th best selling console in Japan. What's to boast about considering the financial loss?

So many other topics are being brought up, but they just aren't relevant to my original post.

Sega Saturn - 5,718,628 will be beaten by xmas next year

PS1 - 19,362,986

Nintendo 64 - 5,377,174 will be beaten by xmas next year

Dreamcast - 2,232,028 beaten

PS2 - 22,998,282

Gamecube - 4,024,279 will be beaten by end of this year

Xbox - 477,809 beaten

so that leaves the snes, ps1, and ps2

I can handle that

They have to take the losses now in order to gain market share which might enable them to make profits later.

Why do the financial losses bug you so much, are you losing sleep? Get over it, their taking losses, we know it & they know it. Go buy their games, that helps. Making threads like this, however, proves nothing but troublesome. You've accomplished nothing in here...

I'm voicing my opinion that profits are more important than selling the most consoles while taking record losses in the process.

Sony fans are quick to boast that the PS3 is getting great sales. But why praise it with such losses? What are they accomplishing?

If they don't keep the price on a competetive level they'll lose market share.
