lmao at the second video. The guy says they are "clean" as in they don't have weapons after shephard hands over his pistol but he still has a backpack full of firearms which is obviously shown throughout the video.

I'm still really, really hyped for this game, but I was kind of dissapointed in the gameplay shown in the videos. After playing Uncharted 2, the combat just seems too slow, and clunky.

I played Uncharted 2 for hours and it's very very very linear (you will always know where you need to go, it's more like a movie with puzzles and some action). Unchartad 2 is good game but it's not for me, I just don't like all those "Indiana Jones" actions. The real fact is that we can't compare both games in ANY aspect because they are very different. If you play the game you will see that it's not just an action game like Uncharted 2.

How does that have anything to do with my statement? I was comparing the combat which is simular enough to Uncharted to draw comparisons. Both are third person shooters which take advantage of cover and I was comenting on how clunky it looks in this game compared to the smooth movement and animations of Uncharted. I never compared stories or anything. I have played Mass Effect 1 and beat it twice by the way, and I never claimed it was just an action game. :P I for one will be playing ME2 for it's story mainly. But if a story is all I wanted I would watch a movie or read a novel and not play a video game. While I loved the first game's story, it really suffered in the gameplay department and it felt more like a chore then actually being an enjoyable game. This new one looks much better in every department and will be an incredible game. I just still think the gameplay looks pretty clunky. I love how much easier it is to tell your teammates where to take cover though. Huge improvement.

S.T.A.G.E.,

ME2 is too good to be compared to Uncharted 2?.....So now ME2 is too good to be compared to a game that has a 96 average on metacritic and has been hailed by both critics and gamers who have played it alike as one of the greatest games of this gen? Wow. Would you mind making a bet as to if ME2 will beat or even be equal with Uncharted 2's average? And I'd much rather play a masterpiece that is ten hours long then any lesser game regardless of length. Length does not equal quality. Uncharted has already been proven to be of the upmoast quality.

Sorry but did you REALLY played Mass Effect 1? It's NOT similar to Uncharted 2 (in any way)... just the idea that it mix RPG + shooter makes the combat system different from Uncharted 2.

@Edit: And even having a lot of bugs, look at the scores for Mass Effect, that's because the game is incredible, no matter what you say.

Yes. I really did. And even if I didn't, I can watch a video and compare it. I wasn't comparing the entire game. I was comparing the video that was posted here which showed third person shooter gameplay and compared it to a third person shooter. And it doesn't matter if it's not the main point of the game, or if you don't even have to use it. If it's in the game, it should be judged. Otherwise they should have left it out. The game is about taking cover regardless of your class really, and it just looks pretty sloppy. Does that mean the game will suck? Hell no.

S.T.A.G.E.,

Metacritic is an average of "professional" critics reviews. How are the fans going to scale the average. If your not going to take the word of critics over another means then fine. You obviously have a bet in your sig about average reviews from critics. So that's obviously not it. But whatever. lol

Hmmm... the reason why I really like Mass Effect is the fact that it plays a lot like Knights of the Old Republic and you have a better menu system on the PC, but Mass Effect 2 looks like it's more shooter oriented now which is a point down for me. I'm pretty sure I won't like this game better than Dragon Age: Origins on PC and I'm probably going to wait for a Steam discount now that I've seen it in action, it's quiet a shame really, I was looking forward to this game and wanted it first day until I saw those game play videos, but shooters are big these days(confuses me tbh since I like all different types of games) so I really can't say much about their decision to make this more Shooter than RPG.

Don't jump to conclusions. There are other ways to play the game. They have only shown the soldier class which is a master of firearms. The powers in the first game were pretty cumbersome though, so I only played this class myself. But I'm positive they will have fixed the powers for the sequal and it will be something to look forward to. Dragon Age might be more your style, but Mass Effect will be an epic experiance and you shouldn't miss it. :)

I mainly did sniper(spec op) in the first game since the skills were awesome, messed around with other classes too(the force lawl) but pretty much a gun user(Pistols, MGs, Shotguns, etc) I really liked what they did in ME, but if I wanted a Gears type combat, I'd rather stick to an actual action shooter. This looks more like a slow tps with inventory now, I'll pick it up when it goes on discount on Steam just like I said in my first post so I won't miss it, don't worry. I'm still pissed that there is no next KotOR and that there is a MMO coming now so we might never see any more KotOR. =_=

Well then, I can somewhat agree with you then. That's kind of what I was getting at in my first post that made some of the ME2 fans here so butthurt. lol And I definately agree about KoToR! More then anything I want a new full fledged sequal! There is an MMO which is close to what KoToR was. But it dosen't look nearly as good as a proper sequal.

@solid_raiden

What he meant when he said "he's clean" had nothing to do with weapons. The alien he was talking to clearly stated that he may be someone else in disguise since Shepard was supposed to be dead so they were checking to make sure he was who he said he was.

As for comparing ME2 to U2 thats just stupid, that would be like comparing GoW to Fable. Besides the games being 3rd person there is nothing else similar between them.

I played as a Vanguard, which was a mix of Soldier and Biotic.  The first two playthrough's I had Liara with me so I let her use the biotics more.  But on my 3rd time around, it was Wrex and Garrus so I used my biotics a lot more and, let me tell you, it IS different when you actually start playing it that way.  Throw, Lift, Warp and Barrier were used extensively by me and were different than your average shooter.

Its definitely an RPG with shooter elements, even though the recent vids seem focus on the shooter side more.

If it makes you feel better. I thought the combat in Fable 2 was awful, slow, button mashing crap with little to no strategy. And compared to fluid games like GoW was made even worse. Why the hell is it that RPG's can't be as tight and fun to play as more focused action titles? Why do all RPG's have to be bland, slow, and boring? I understand when we are tallking about a title with heavy strategy involved. But if your going to be an action, or shooter RPG. I expect you to be just as good at those elements as you are at the RPG one's. And it's my right as a consumer to demand better quality of games competing for my purchase. Get over it.
