Forums - Sony - Anyone else in disbelief about those MAG preorder numbers?

with all socom problems, it still is my favorite game this gen. Socom is video games for a lot of people. I think people are hoping zipper will return to its previous glory with this one. I for one didn't care for the beta and just hope they will make Socom 4. As far as it having a bad design I agree, user created ranked rooms would correct that problem though.

its sucks though because with all the greatness that socom 2 was I think its impossible for me to really get into a FPS. It just seems all to simple, cheap, and boring to me. Of course thats just my opinion.

No most of the tech issues are gone. Its just the lack of user created ranked rooms and still the delay on the map pack that really is hurting the game. I think the game runs really smooth and the lag is pretty much not an issue anymore. I stopped playing for about 4 months and when I got back in everything was fresh and felt good.

If by disbelief you mean I don't believe the numbers are accurate then yes.

I really don't care either way personally, week 1 sales will show the true demand in the end and I don't mind waiting. They better launch this as a finished product though because the game will tank if they go the beta route home went down.

What were the latest numbers? 8 million downloaded it 6 million active... yeah... huge flop.

I also question the source of the claim SOCOM is most popular, you can use the site I'll post below to check how many players where online for entire weeks.

In the weeks prior to that posted article it was managing about 11-13k players only (not online at once, just that played that week). Yet everytime I have turned on CoD:WaW there are always 50-250k players listed as being online, that is at once.

Check socom numbers here: http://eclipsed4utoo.com/socom/Default.aspx

If SOCOM is most popular then PS3 online is dead.

Socom hits at least 13k a night. You can go to the Socom website they have the number at the top of the site that always updates. I'm pretty sure COD does have more players online. But there was a catch to the numbers I don't remember what it was though.

I think it was reported by some producer from SCEA and it was for most simultaneous users on PSN. I think it was only compared to ps3 exclusives.

I am not shocked because I believe it's an over-tracked number for sure. There's no hype at all for MAG, I refuse to believe there's 80k pre-orders. It would deserve that though, cos MAG is an excellent game but it just wont sell very well with no marketing and hype.

And you know there's no hype for MAG...how?

Because I haven't detected much hype for it on the internet.

Plus many Sony fans her on VGC have proclaimed that they're not interested in a game with such a mess on a big battlefield.

If sales were proportional to internet hype, Valkryia Chronicles would be a 5mil+ seller.

80k, if accurate, is very impressive.

It's struggling for identity as a shooter and it'll be overshadowed by so much (Call of Duty, Killzone, Bioshock, etc), so I don't expect it to set the charts alight.

If it breaks 1mil LTD, I'll consider that a success.

^ if it breaks 1 million, i'll consider that as a miracle.

I saw one million is pretty easily attainable.... If SOCOM can...
