A lot of people seem to be hyped for this game. There may not be a lot of hype on VGchartz, but does that really matter. VGchartz hype hasn't exactly been great indicator of sales.

Next week, MAG can potentially go top of the American pre-orders chart.

That is a sentence I never thought I'd see, never mind say!

There's a tiny part of me, which right now I'm actively trying to suppress lest I jinx things, that hopes that MAG is somehow, against all the odds, the game that will let Sony tap into the 360's hardcore shooter fanbase...

I can believe the pre-order numbers. I was insanely hyped and had this game on my buy list. Unfortunetly I got on the beta and played that and the beta killed all my excitement for the game.

yet, If I had never played the beta this game would have been a day 1 buy for me. So I think it definetly is going to sell well and the pre-orders are showing this.

i have really kept an eye on mag. i really like what i see. i think its going to be a really good game, so everybody enjoy.

The game isn't really all that massive in scope.  The maps are so spread out and the players are so spread out that it never really feels like you are playing with that many people.  So the game doesn't really feel like you are playing in a large scale conflict, but more like isolated firefights on the same map.  

So, when you take away the large scale combat, the game is basically just an inferior version of modern warfare.  It can be fun, the gameplay is solid, but I was hoping that it would feel more like 2 armies going up against each other instead of just a couple of squads.  

That is how it killed my hype.  The game is still well made, just not what I was hoping.
