Forums - General - quick math question.

Ok, so I am playing LOTRO now, and having a blast.

Quick question. I had a 60% chance to do something in the game, and it took me 11 tries. This means 10 times in a row, the thing that had a 40% chance of happening, happened.

Can someone give me the odds of something with a 60% chance of success failing 10 times in a row?

Thanks! :)

Around the Network

0.4^10 = 0.0001048576

I think it's ~0.06% chance

You had 0.0001048576% chances to miss.

^ I did 0.6^10, not 0.4.

So mine was the odds of it succeeding 10 times in a row.

Around the Network

so you have a 40% of failing which is 4 out of ten times (4/10)^10

0.0001048576

which is approximately 1 out 10000 chance you could fail 10 times in a row

*This was a half ass process and pretty sure I calculated it wrong ... maybe

0.4^10

~0.01%

~1/10,000
