The thing im pissed with the most my game DW6: Empires is stuck in the dead sorry excuse for a console.

What do i do about that? if i send it to sony will they throw it away?

Do one of the Youtube fixes. Get the disc out back-up your saves then sell it

Links to some youtube videos? and as for DW6: Empires, it prohibits copying, so if possible i really want to keep this PS3 because i have all the gear for custom characters in the game.

Screwd up the post :

Np! thank you very much, am watcing them now, i'll update whats going on.

Really i have never come so close to ruining a gaming console EVER, im very disapointed in Sony, such disgrace.

@Vodka- lol liez, my PS3 used Other OST or whatever its called really well... i played that "Game" on my PS3 if you get my drift... >_>

Gawd... my good nature hasn't been messed with this much in awhile, i was just about to own the Final Boss in DW6: Empires to! and it was one of my Created Characters! Shadow-Seraphic! ;_;

Really though, how ironic.... i thought fer sure my 360 was going to be the first to give me issues this gen... and sony comes outta' know-where and stabs me in the back... jeez.

@Mirson, yea Sony erases them. Before I chose another method to get my repair I called sony and talked to a CS rep for a good amount of time about it. She pretty much guaranteed me my HDD would be erased, regardless of whether or not the HDD had anything to do with the problem. I even told her at one point "it sounds like the techs erase them out of spite". She couldnt give me a real explanation as to why they do this, but for some retarded reason its a common practice for them.

They do it to protect your information. When my PS3 broke down the second time, Sony sent the box to the wrong house!!  Luckily, it was only the box. Imagine if it had my PS3 in there with the game saves, PSN login, etc. I would've been pissed.

The reason AFAIK is that the PS3 drive encryption is linked to the motherboard.

If they have to change that, the encrytion key also changes and the drive will need to be formatted again to work.

It would be like trying to put your HDD into another PS3, the same thing will happen and it will need to be formatted for the new PS3 to be able to use the disk, yet it will work in the original PS3 it was formatted in provided the disk has not been reformatted or the motherboard changed.

Blame anti-piracy measures or pirates themselves for this. It is not really done out of spite and it's happening depends on whether or not Sony have to replace the motherboard

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

thats a shame when my 60gb YLOD i was well pissed of i still have it and sony wont fix it

Since it isn't under warranty, just get a slim...$150 repair with 30 day warranty vs $300 new with 1 year warranty.

Fine im willing to give it up... But... HOW DO I GET MY GAME OUT OF IT!!!

Either Pay Sony? Or save for a Slim and it sucks ass that you cant get your saved games back.

Wish Sony would of built a more reliable system...

Jees Garnett you sure know how to be a ass, why even bother??

A more reliable system? You mean more reliable than the 360 with an over 33% failure rate? And over 50% failure rate at launch? I am not hating on the 360, I want one. But seriously, stealth troll much. PS3 is by far more reliable than the 360, his hard-drive, which is where everything is saved, is not dead because of YLOD.

@OT - Dude, that really sucks. :( Hope u fix it soon.

That sucks...guess you'll have to send it in for repairs...

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Try to get it fixed temporarily off youtube. After that go to your local shop and ask if you can buy warranty on your fully functunal PS3. In the Uk you can buy warranty, you just have to prove you have a fully functional system. Its worth a try.

Err..they still erase it regardless of the problem. My disc drive was faulty, so I sent it in with Crash Commando & KZ2 saves (they were copy protected at the time). When I got it back, the saves weren't there. I was so pissed because your online stats for Crash Commando are only saved to your saved data, not the server. My score was reset to 0. Dumb move by the developers. My friend was able to replace his drive without losing anything. I was happy they sent me my 250GB HDD though. Heard they don't give it back to you.

@Seraphic, you can try to get the disc out by flipping the power off on the back, pushing down on the Eject button (don't let go), and then flipping it back on. Keep holding down the Eject button, until the Fan test starts. It's very loud and you can't miss it. At this time, you can eject the disc successfully. Doesn't always work though.
