Naughty Dog originally worked on the Crash Bandicoot games for the ps1 (the only good ones). Later, Sony sold the rights of the games to Universal (along with Spyro), so ND moved on and created the Jak & Daxter series of platformers, easily my favorites last gen after Super Mario Sunshine. Uncharted is their first new IP since the first J&D.
They are essentially the twin of Insomniac. Insomniac often references J&D in the R&C games, and ND does the same with R&C in the J&D games. Their first games for this gen were both new IPs featuring a character named Nathan (which was purely a coincidence, according to both dev teams), and it is rumored that ND will begin working on Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier as their second ps3 game, much like Insomniac just finished R&C5.
