Forums - Sony - Minor Glitch Halts Ratchet & Clank PS3, Simple Workaround Solves Issue

Yeah I read 5 minutes ago that one person on GT had that problem.

Others just could play it =/. Strange.

I have some old demos and vids I can get rid of anyway, if it happens to me.

While this may seem a lofty chore to some, the abundance of downloads in the online PlayStation Store means that relief is, at best, a matter of deleting an old demo or two, and at worst, the task of downloading of a few additional files.

Hmmm so first they remove backwards compatibility to ensure owners buy PS3 games and now a "glitch" requires you to download more online content in order to play R&C, how strange.

I don't get it =/.  You are saying now this is Sony's fault that there is a glitch in the R&C game?

Paranoia!

That's an obscure bug. If you have precisely 39 gigs free, then the game won't install? *NOte: 39 gigs was my made up number. No clue.

What if you don't have internet? Is there a way to rip CD's or DVD's or some kind of files to the hard drive?

"Fortunately, the workaround is a relatively simple one. "When this occurs, either delete or add about 500MB of data to your hard drive and the problem will go away,"

Ha, and they call this a good workaround? What about people who don't have internet access? Are they supposed to delete their savegames?

I bet someone is shitting their pants at Insomniac, depending on how rare this problem is.

LOL, what a bizarre bug. Won't affect 99% of users (my guess). Dangers of having games that need to preinstall on a hard disk?

Well, it will affect at least 0.6% of 80 GB users by my calculations. Assumptions were:

1- The occurrence of the problem only depends on free disk space and the "500 MB" problem range is continuous
2- The problem can occur on 80 GB hard drives (the biggest default capacity for the PS3)
3- Occupied disk space on people who buy Ratchet & Clank follows an uniform distribution

If it can occur on 40 GB hard drives, double that to 1.2% for those users, getting near your estimate ;)

Of course, I don't know for sure if those assumptions are correct, so this is just an estimate.

EDIT - corrected a stupid mistake

Wow, this really sucks hard X_X I assume more than 50% of the PS3 owners don't have internet access/WiFi, then what?

Just copy a CD on your HD and delete it =/.
