Forums - Gaming - PS3 the console to get?

To be fair FFXIII is multiplat, and 360's got a decent line up next year too.

But yeah, post-Slim, PS3's been the hot thing to have, and it seems like that'd carry on until natal and all it's (unwarranted) media hype hits.

I don't get the point of the topic. I thought I would walk in and get a thread dedicated to whether or not the OP should buy a PS3. I come in here and realize there's really not much of a discussion to be had. Obviously PS3 is not the console to get. It's one of three. This is a gaming site and a good percentage of us own multiple consoles already. The thinly masked attempt at making a PS3 praise thread into something else doesn't make this topic any more exciting to respond to than the other hundred attempts this year.

I know I thought the exact same thing when I came in. Then it turns into a Sony love fest.

Is the PS3 the defining console of this generation (The question i think the OP was asking)

No, the PS3 is not the defining console of this generation I think most of us can agree that the Wii is the defining console of this generation.  PS3 is basically an X-Box with prettier graphics and less games, X-Box is like a mediocre PS3 with more games. The Wii is like, well like nothing ever done before with crappy graphics and more exclusives then X-Box 360 and PS3 combined.

In order to truly enjoy this generation you need to own a Wii, sure some will argue you need a PS3/360 too. But without a Wii you are missing out on all those new innovations and most of what defined gaming this generation. You can't call yourself a true gamers unless you own both a Wii and a PS3or360. End of story

You sure about that? Because the Wii is collecting dust most of the time for most of the multi-platform owners...

I'm not just talking about me and some people I know, but including a Famitsu Poll which did say that about 47% of the Japanese Wii owners did barely play with there Wii (this was 2008, so I guess the situation has become worser), and the impressions that you get when you visit forums.

Innovation my ass.

Yh my wii is also collecting dust, in fact i haven't had 1 game on the wii i have enjoyed and played all the way through (yes wii sports is fun for a few months).

I first had a 360 but it broke 5 times, seriously 5 god damn times in 16months. I then got my beloved ps3 and haven't looked back.

Depends on what you're looking for. I think all three current consoles have a lot to offer. For me PS3/Wii was the way to go as I also game a lot on PC and knew I'd be getting Valve games plus titles like Mass Effect on PC.

For others 360 is the right choice, or 360/Wii.

Depends on what genres you like, your playing habits, whether you game more online or off, etc.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

lololol im pretty sure most consoles collect dust since they don't really move

OT:

I own all three current gen consoles and in my opinion, you need a Wii and either a PS3 or 360 to fully enjoy this gen.
