I did read the thread, and it wasn't about the PS3. While it did have a few financial #'s from Sony the point of the thread wasn't on what the PS3 is doing now. And by no means did I attack anyone. I have never seen Xoj do anything but detract from xbox related threads and excuse me if I am wrong here, but I didn't want to see this one degenerate into the same ole same ole.

I would imagine Microsoft will have a temporary price cut on the arcade for a month or so around Black Friday. This will enable them to retain a higher price after the holidays and also keep the Arcade at a budget price when its needed most. Other than that I think your right about Microsoft wanting to keep their profits up. And its a good plan for their gaming division. |

yup, i think that MS is not coming with another pricecut this christmas, they are going to try to make the best of it. They will be last though. But it will be a long time before the PS3 catches up and before that happens we will definately see another pricecut.
Im fearing they are betting on Natal though. While the whole natal thing sounds really great I think its a huge risk since the xbox360 will not get any cheaper by it and the wii market is getting more and more saturated. I dont think that MS can get a huge piece of that after the release of Natal. The xbox360 will stay on 299 with Natal bundled. MS might bundle it with every console and thats giving Sony and Ninty the advantage of preparing another pricedrop before or right after MS does.
Also if the wiiHD rumours are true, MS is in big trouble. Especcially if Ninty is going Blu ray. From a marketing perspective the xbox360 will then be the inferior product.

That Elite price cut was more like rise in price at least in europe. They did drop 60 Gb model and now Elite to only HDD model on sale. Same time they did drop HDMI cable from Elite box and now you got to pay 20 € more for HDD Xbox 360 than what you did pay when there was 60 Gb model. That 120 Gb HDD propably won't cost to MS any more than that 60 Gb models HDD so I really wouldn't say MS did try to strike back with that move.
Well, this was a very slow year for the 360 (see how many games have been pushed back to 2010).
I believe they knew what was coming on the PS3 side and decided not to spend money to counter attack direclty (useless).
What happened with the slim and the reaction to the market was necessary to save the PS3 anyway. Sony had no choice but to do it.
On the other hand, the 360 is profitable and considering that it needs to beat the sales of the PS3 week by week is fanboys fantasy.... especially if you consider the huge dent it does on SOny profitability... they are trying to save the brand...
2010 will be a very interesting year anyway. What is in MS hat ??
While Sony spend huge amount of money to support their marketing which stats that PS3 is a superior machine .... MS battles on the creativity/gameplay side.
Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.
next year the 360 is loaded with a lot of already announced titles (Crackdown, Alan Wake, Spinter Cell, Mass Effect 2, halo Reach and Fable 3). Add in a few titles which are sure to not be announced yet, and Natal stuff and I think the 360 will be just fine in 2010.
