Forums - Gaming - Epic Mickey was ORIGINALLY a 360/PS3/PC Title! (Why did it move to Wii?)!

@Darth
just have a competely different studio make it using the same art assets.

Movie studios do similar things, notice how sometimes 2 of the same kind of movie will come out at the same time. EX: the two magician movies, one with christian Bale and the other one with wolverine.

It was also done with shaun white's snowboarding. Completely different games, same IP

No but ONE will ALWAYS be inferior in comparison, that will affect review rating & hype rating

they want Epic Mickey to be a TRUE BLOCKBUSTER

that will be only possible if it was a PS360 title or a Wii only title

that allows focus....true focus!!!

Well I am at least glad that someone agrees with me that exclusives can sometimes sell more copies than multiplats.

It sounds to me that you think nobody would buy a decent mickey game on the HD systems. Do you think there are no mickey fans on those consoles? The age range itself reflects a demographic which actually grew up with mickey video games and movies and tv shows.

Everyone seems to think that HD system owners only buy the best of the best. This is a myth.

Actually I think that its Wii owners who buy the best of the best, and on Wii that's usually Nintendo games

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Those 2 were in the same movie.  I think you meant to say Edward Norton and Jessica Beil were in the other magician movie.

yes i did

thanks lol

Did kingofwale really just compare this to Deadly Creatures again?

Anyway... I thought Warren Spector said they originally wanted it on the Wii? I must be going crazy.

The fact this game is exclusive doesn't mean it'll bring more overall sales than a multiplat (that's impossible), but if the Wii version turns out great and sells well, an HD/PC port simply may not be worth the effort / investment.

Good to see developers focusing either completely on Wii or PS3/360 development and taking advantage of the tech available, since you can't realistically develop the same game for all three.

That said, it may get a few more sales because it's Disney, and it may be a phenomenal game, but I don't see it selling well.

I do not understand the reason why you think the game will not sale well? Do you believe that it will lack advertising or it will be a bad game? Please enlighten me.

Pretty simple.  Most good games don't sell the quantities they should :P.  Especially true on the Wii.  I think it's too niche for the main userbase.

Time will tell.

It's all about the game.

Huh? A Mickey Mouse game is too niche? What?

Well it is a strange kinda post apocolyptic Micky Mouse game.  Not exactly what people will expect.

I don't think KH was what people may have expected either. It's still Mickey so it'll sell well on name alone. Plus I'm sure the marketing will target typical Disney fans too like KH marketing does.

Could be... the first scenes we've seen has shown there will be "good" parts they can show that won't creep people out.

I'm surprised the "KH3 on Wii or ps3/360?" debate didn't begin anew in this thread.

Oh no, what have I done!

now that you mention it
