I did the same for the same reason, so, if they don't ask too much, I'll buy it to play it legit, it deserves it, but I should still play the unofficial modded version, as AFAIK savegames with the unofficial widescreen patch aren't compatible with the game without that particular mod and if they do an official widescreen patch it will be most probably very differently implemented.
The two things still preventing me from buying it are that I didn't find it yet in Italy and that I feel a little, no, very pissed off that they totally abandoned this wonderful game for almost 10 years and now they come back to capitalize instead of the original developers on all the wonderful efforts made for free by fans during all this years to keep alive and even better it. Copyright laws should legalize abandonware, at least in limited cases where lack of commercial interest makes masterpieces officially unavailable to the public, like it happened to Torment for so long time.
