@making: I think DQX was moneyhatted, because there was no assurance that DQX was going to hit the Wii. FFXIII was a year away from releasing on the PS3, and after its release, SE could have decided on going with the PS3 for DQX.

Why did they announce DQX almosta year before DQIX was launched? Why was there no information or anything about the game? I mean, I don't even think development had started until after DQIX launch. That announcement was very suspicious. It's like if they announced MH5 for the 360 tomorrow.

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

We need to make an official KH3 speculation thread, seriously. It is getting ridiculous. We are getting 2 every week.

I used to be firmly in the "KH3 will be for Wii" camp, because of the Wii's higher install base, the Wii's cheaper dev costs, Disney's liking for Nintendo, and the ability to pair the Wiimote with a Keyblade, but now I'm not so sure.

Outside of Guitar Hero and the Lego titles, most games sell better on ps3 than Wii, let alone ps3 and 360 combined. With Japanese devs seemingly returning to the ps3 more and more these days (Alterier Rorona, Ar Tonelico III, 3D Dot Game Heroes, etc.), and Square's heavy investment in ps3/360 development already, I'm beginning to think mutliplat ps3/360 is the more likely option for the series.

A KH3 on Wii would sell millions, to be sure, but it would probably sell a decent bit better on the ps3/360. The question is whether the disparity in dev costs would make a ps3/360 version worth it.

But then, DQX went to Wii. So who knows.

Much like Star Ocean 4 went to the 360, only to be released on the PS3 a year later. SE accepts moneyhats. I'm not saying DQX will be released elsewhere, but what really happened there was a moneyhat by Nintendo, and there's no doubt about that. The timing of the announcement, the total lack of information confirms it.

Plus PS3 is starting to get a lot of support from SE... FFXIII, FFvsXIII, FFXIV, Star Ocean 4, The Last Remnant (supposedly), Nier, Front Mission Evolved and with the acquisition of Eidos, the list will grow.

Trestres that is a very delusional thing to say. DQ goes where Japan is. Now you can argue that it should have went to the DS, but at the time of the announcement(and this is probably still the case) square-enix didn't even start the game. It was(and probably still is) in it's planning stages. They might have expected new Handhelds by the time they release DQX on the Wii(which btw I think DQX will have a similar release that FFXII had.) So let's say we discount handhelds, the only other place it will have a decent enough install base was Wii. Even if it is true that Nintendo moneyhatted(which I doubt they had a motive to let alone did do that), it still is a valid point that the game would have went to Wii(when not counting DS) anyway.

the only point people have maybe demographic.

but demographic didn't help chain of memory and 358/2 days.
despite 80-100 millions userbase.

motion control, HD graphics Engine built for versus which is a AJRPG, and like FF one of the game that main series have been in playstation.
likely it going to hit the ps3, especially since the recent surge in sales and FF13 setting the ground for it to success.
maybe not exclusive but they are too many points making me believe it's going ps3, and ps3 also have such square following demographic, and ratchet and clank, LBP sold decent.
but it's more a RPG of FF13 side and style.

You guys know what? I won't be surprised if "Epic Mickey" is another "test" for future Wii games, more specifically Kingdom Hearts 3. Let's see how that sells, and then we have a new spark for speculation. As of now, we are just making the same topic again and again, with the same arguments.

@sc: What I'm saying is that Nintendo made sure it went to its console by moneyhatting. Why would they take a risk and wait until FFXIII hits the PS3? That would have been a bad move. If they wanted more Japanese support (which they aren't getting like expected after the DQX announcement) they had to get DQX obligatorily. There was always a chance the game could have gone to the PS3 taking into account that DQVIII was a PS2 game, or to the DS's successor considering how well DQIX is selling.

DS's successor would be too new on the market. The ps3's install base just doesn't cut it for a DQ game. Even if it would sell MANY consoles, it wouldn't make up for lost sales. Plus there is no reason to increase development costs if you aren't going to sell as much as on another console. Nintendo, doesn't need any support, obviously. Look at the system sellers and top 10, who published them? Nintendo. I doubt Nintendo would need to moneyhat anybody for any game, especially one that would eventually come anyway.

Lol, Nintendo needs support now more than ever in Japan, and it's not getting it. Look at how sales have plummeted. It's selling on par with the PS3 and they are both about the same for Yearly sales.

It's obvious it was a moneyhat. There was no reason for them to announce a game 1 year before its predecessor was launched. I've never seen that happened in the history of videogames.

Imagine they announced MH4 last year for the DS. How would that have sounded?

DQIX was scheduled to launch in 2008. It was probably a question/answer format, and they were mentioning how they were planning for the Wii. Also at the time, the Wii was selling around 40k weekly. That isn't bad at all, and Nintendo had no reason to money hat. Even now, they don't have one. I don't get your point on MH4 for the DS? First of all, MH has been present on the PSP this generation. It sold well on the PSP because of that, and that would be the reason why it would be weird to hear an announcement for the DS. That in combination with the DS' ability to mimic the gameplay of Monster Hunter being hindered by it's capabilities, as well as Capcom not being able to suck the life out of Monster Hunter 3 yet with re-releases like MH3P. Also the Handheld games followed a pattern of port the console game, then continue a handheld exclusive line. So people would expect MH3P and MH3G on the PSP before a MH4. Btw, FFXIII was announced before the release of FFXII. It was actually announced for the PS2 but was pushed further.
