I used to be firmly in the "KH3 will be for Wii" camp, because of the Wii's higher install base, the Wii's cheaper dev costs, Disney's liking for Nintendo, and the ability to pair the Wiimote with a Keyblade, but now I'm not so sure.

Outside of Guitar Hero and the Lego titles, most games sell better on ps3 than Wii, let alone ps3 and 360 combined. With Japanese devs seemingly returning to the ps3 more and more these days (Alterier Rorona, Ar Tonelico III, 3D Dot Game Heroes, etc.), and Square's heavy investment in ps3/360 development already, I'm beginning to think mutliplat ps3/360 is the more likely option for the series.

A KH3 on Wii would sell millions, to be sure, but it would probably sell a decent bit better on the ps3/360. The question is whether the disparity in dev costs would make a ps3/360 version worth it.

But then, DQX went to Wii. So who knows.

Much like Star Ocean 4 went to the 360, only to be released on the PS3 a year later. SE accepts moneyhats. I'm not saying DQX will be released elsewhere, but what really happened there was a moneyhat by Nintendo, and there's no doubt about that. The timing of the announcement, the total lack of information confirms it.

Plus PS3 is starting to get a lot of support from SE... FFXIII, FFvsXIII, FFXIV, Star Ocean 4, The Last Remnant (supposedly), Nier, Front Mission Evolved and with the acquisition of Eidos, the list will grow.

Monster Hunter was obviously a moneyhat, because Nintendo *never* announces third party games at their own conferences, plus it completely jumped platforms mid-development.

I don't really see DQX being the same situation.

But if it was a moneyhat, that only increases the chances of KH3 being for Wii.  It would fit perfectly with the kid friendly Nintendo/Disney vibe they've got going.

wat if SE announced KH3 was guided first person experience???

KH:BBS will come out in May in US and will feature a secret KH 3 trailer. One month later at E3 2010 KH3 will be revealed for the Wii, developed by a new studio (not usual KH team) and will come out earlier than anybody expected.

That's what my crystal ball says, anyway.

@XXain: They already did that with Dragon Quest, so I wouldnt be surprised.

I remember Nomura saying they put KH: CoM on GBA because kids want KH on GBA! :o

Chain of Memories only sold a third that of the original game and less than half that of the sequel, despite releasing on a platform that sold 80 million units and that had a fully backwards compatible successor that topped 100 million units.

That doesn't really help your argument.  :P

I don't get why people think that this game will sale so much on the Wii.

It's not like Kingdom Hearts is a huge mass appeal series that could easily put up 7-10mil on a high enough user base.

No matter what console it's released for, it won't get too far pass 3.5mil.

@Rei

Nomura hinted at another KH game besides KH3. My guess it's a more Mickey focused game! :o Maybe.

Also, there's no way they would give the main series to another team. They only do that for side stories like Com/BBS (made by Jupiter), 358/2 Days (hand), Coded (Agito XIII team IIRC? Don't remember.) but the main series will be done by the main team. 2010 is when I expect Versus to release anyway. This could give them time to release another KH game, then KH3 later so they occupy us with another.

They do that for Final Fantasy, they do that for Dragon Quest. Why wouldnt they do that for Kingdom Hearts? There is nothing stopping them, as development by a different team does not stop Nomura, Shimomura etc. from being involved in development.
