Outside of Guitar Hero and the Lego titles, most games sell better on ps3 than Wii, let alone ps3 and 360 combined. With Japanese devs seemingly returning to the ps3 more and more these days (Alterier Rorona, Ar Tonelico III, 3D Dot Game Heroes, etc.), and Square's heavy investment in ps3/360 development already, I'm beginning to think mutliplat ps3/360 is the more likely option for the series.
A KH3 on Wii would sell millions, to be sure, but it would probably sell a decent bit better on the ps3/360. The question is whether the disparity in dev costs would make a ps3/360 version worth it.
But then, DQX went to Wii. So who knows. |
Much like Star Ocean 4 went to the 360, only to be released on the PS3 a year later. SE accepts moneyhats. I'm not saying DQX will be released elsewhere, but what really happened there was a moneyhat by Nintendo, and there's no doubt about that. The timing of the announcement, the total lack of information confirms it.
Plus PS3 is starting to get a lot of support from SE... FFXIII, FFvsXIII, FFXIV, Star Ocean 4, The Last Remnant (supposedly), Nier, Front Mission Evolved and with the acquisition of Eidos, the list will grow.

Monster Hunter was obviously a moneyhat, because Nintendo *never* announces third party games at their own conferences, plus it completely jumped platforms mid-development.
I don't really see DQX being the same situation.
But if it was a moneyhat, that only increases the chances of KH3 being for Wii. It would fit perfectly with the kid friendly Nintendo/Disney vibe they've got going.
