Forums - Microsoft - PS3 Getting Netflix & Cross Game Chat , Will you Continue to Pay For Gold?

I've been happy with what Microsoft offers for the Gold subscription for a while now. Netflix has been icing on the cake. Great that the PS3 is getting it also. For me, cross game chat is about the first real step the PS3 has taken towards adding gaming features I care about. By this time though, I doubt much will change my PS3 from it's role as dust collector and occational Blu-Ray player.

I give this thread a 9.4.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

We don't have netflix here in UK/EU so can't really say it's a deal break...

But you do have cross game chat? ;)

Yes 360 has X game chat. And Sky in UK. Also the reason why people pay for Gold is because Live has everything first. PSN has taken 12 months to get Netflix. So what Live has new this year will be on PSN 12 months time. Thats why Gold wont die.

The goal for Netflix is to have this streaming service to ALL consoles, so in the end, yes it was a timed exclusive (to test the waters imo) and now it's being made avaliable to ALLLLLL consoles. PS3 will get it next, then Nintendo, then Blu-ray players, and Internet TV's.

The CEO of Netflix Reed Hastings said it himself a month ago. Check it out yourself: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/102/1027576p1.html

BR Players already have it and a disk isn't really something that is interesting to me... when I do get my PS3 (hopefully for Christmas) I'll still use my 360 as my primary Netflix device.  They have it integrated into the service and the fact that you don't have to really go to your browser to mess around with your que much is an added value IMO plus Microsoft is always adding more cool stuff

Am I the only one getting sick of these "why are you still paying for Xbox Live?" threads? These are as flamebait as the day is long.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

It's interesting that they use BD Live... I wonder if the disc will work in the other BD Live players that don't have build in Netflix. The main problem I see with this is that it's not integrated... I know going to the PC and adding in movies was a real pain I can't imagine how shitty it's going to be getting out of Netflix... going to the shitty PS3 browser and navigating to Netflix and using their equally shitty website (my god how bad does it look on TV?) and adding movies to your Que. Then you have to go back? Fuck that... shit should be build into the disc they already have a good layout with the way the 360 has it... and that's another problem... using a disc is annoying at best and unexceptable for those who have been using Netflix on the 360.

"...using a disc is annoying at best and UNEXCEPTABLE for those using netflix on the 360".

No offence, but you really should let netflix x360 owners speak for themselves and have their own opinion on that rather than you speak for all of them.

I think it's pretty safe to say that 99.9 percent of all Netflix users would rather have it build into the system rather then having to pull out their game and put in the disk... it's not exactly stretching it much

So you are saying that 99 percent of PS3 only users won't like using netflix on the PS3 coz they have to insert a disc in the console?
