Forums - Gaming - Dad shoot son over video game!

Reading the story, this wasn't so much about a missing game, as it was a drunk violent a-hole who didn't take the second needed to realize, you don't shoot a gun at your kid. In the back no less. I think this was no isolated incident, just the first that had him using a gun. Probably was always a violent drunk.

Of course we won't really hear about this anywhere else. The man was 40, hence anti-violent game advocates can't use their argument that is influences young kids. You always need the argument "We have to protect the children" to make people listen. Even though it's never really about the children.

It's in the 2nd Amendment...which means it's kinda important to our way of life. Imho, blaming guns, is like blaming games...this bastard would have stabbed the kid, imho...although he might not have caught him, you might say, but...that's speculation.

Weird how that second amendment basically only refers to a specific time in American history, but it is now being used as an excuse to buy fire arm after fire arm. Nothing good can come of such an amendment and the violence in the US shows exactly that.

Ontopic: Doesn't count as a headshot >_>

i guess there's only 1 way to find out what he meant. Everdom do you think the gun or the dad is to blame?

Of course the dad was to blame, the gun doesnt shoot itself, all im saying is that there should never have been a situation when a drunken conman could so easily get his hands on something that could, and tragically has been so deadly.

Fuck this father. Who the fuck shoots their own flesh and blood over a video game?

And to those in here talking about how hard it is for Obama to change the constitution, then where are we to look? If the most powerful man on the planet isn't the one to initiate it, are we supposed to accept that one of the richest and most advanced country's in the world simply has a HUUUGE flaw in their constitution? Come on guys, we know better than this. It is no longer the 1700's.

@Gnizmo - why does it matter whether it was the person or the gun??? Actually, an issue like this is a direct indicator of necessary change to gun laws. Yes, this man is crazy. Yes, this man could have killed his son using a knife. But let's step back from this scenario for a minute. What if this man had decided to go on a rampage. Do you think he'd get to more people with an AK47 or a butcher knife? Crazy people exist everywhere. Murderers and sociopaths have been around as long as human beings have. Seems like a good enough reason not to let people own firearms.

It's actually kind of depressing.

What if he had decided to go have angry sex with a hooker instead? What if counts for nothing. The reality is a man did one of the worst things imaginable. Trying to say it would not have happened in a world without guns removes all personal responsibility, and removes much of the blame from where it belongs. The gun gave him no extra options. This is a tragedy of improper rage management.

Now tell me please, why is having a gun still legal in America?

The gun wasn't the problem, the guy was drunk.

if he didnt have a gun he woulda beat the kid to death with his hands or anything he can find, hes a drunk, idk if you guys know this but they tend not to care with what they get the job done with but they just wanna get the job done.
its better to be shot than stabbed 30 some odd times and die slowly

Some of you guys, are quite frankly, full of crap. Gnizmo is right on the money here. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Some of you were saying "Hey, what if the father had a knife instead?" You know what I say? "Hey, what if the father didn't want to kill his son instead?" Quit trying to blame the weapon without blaming the person. I'm sure there are millions of gun owners in the country who can make it through their lives without murdering people, and blaming the guns is ignoring the problem at hand, which is murder, and last time I checked, you didn't need a gun if you wanted to murder somebody. Using this to crusade an ammendment change is ridiculous.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

^Exactly, you have to go to the source, you can't just nitpick something like blaming it on the video game.

@themanwithnoname amen to that
