What I find most interesting about this article is the accuracy of the analysts. They're within about 10% on all predicitions.

Compare that to what analysts are still saying about this generation of gaming consoles...

A lot of analysts got Apple very wrong, especially in the first few generations of iPods. People who call the Wii a fad make me laugh, because the very same comments were made about the iPod. Apple has beaten Sony, Dell, MS, Samsung, etc. in the music player business despite all the 'hardcore' audiophiles/techies bashing it.  Nintendo studied this phenomenon very closely which led to the DS and Wii.

Well, yeah, there are obviously some designers at Nintendo who love Apple. Just look at all that white plastic.

Good for Apple.

However only when they can make a decent operating system without hardware/software vendor lock-ins will I care about them.

I agree with the point about the analysts in this market versus the console market.  Of course, I consider the console market far more volatile.

also:
"Apple also forecast fiscal first-quarter revenue of $9.2 billion, ahead of the $8.7 billion average Wall Street target."

I am assuming that they are prediciting the quarter following the one they just reported, which means Apples 1st quarter fiscally is October through December, meaning their fiscal year starts October 1st.

How stupidly confusing are businesses trying to make things....I mean most (i think) have a fiscal year starting April 1st, which is still for some reason offset from the calender year.....but MSFT starts 3 months after that, so a quarter later than most, and Apple a further quarter later than Microsoft.

WHY?
