Forums - Sony - NAT type problems

Been getting NAT type 3 constantly and it wasn't an issue till I tried playing UC 2 online and it didn't work at all. So I went around looking for instructions on the stuff and I've basically tried everything:

Set up a DMZ for the PS3, opened the PS3 UDP and TCP ports, turn UPnP on and then off and reset the modem, the ps3, tried to use the modem as a bridge, nothing's worked.

It even gives me type 3 NAT when it's connected directly to the modem which doesn't make any sense. When I called ATT (one of the worst customer service companies) they told me they have a technician that will guide me but I had to pay 39.99 or 99 dollars or something but I had already hung up at that point.

Anyone else here that has had this problem? It's only an issue when I try to play online and it still happens even when I don't use the router and connect staright to the modem.

Huh? They sent you a free phone for a fuck-up that was all your fault?  Microsoft has the best customer service I have ever seen

I had DNS problems with the PS3 for a while, but then they went away and I didn't change anything but upgrade the firmware. I really think these types of problems are PSN/Firmware issues if it was working properly before and a simple powercycle of all your equipment doesn't fix it.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

The awesome thing is I can't choose another company, because if you live in a certain building you're forced to use a certain phone company (ATT which I've had problems with my internet since the first day I got it from them) and Direct TV (overpriced cable).

Apparently these people haven't heard of capitalism yet, can't make a choice with what service I use.

I recently had dns problems also, not only with the ps3, but the other 2 pcs on the network as well. Fixed it all by using open dns

How do you use open dns? I think that's one thing I never tried and didn't find info on.

I did call support and they are completely useless took me an hour for them to understand the problem and waited on the line for a half hour then hung up. For the rest of my life, I will do my best to discourage people from using ATT products, especially their internet.

I didn't have a PS3 till recenetly and since I've had it it's been NAT type 3. My old place was Verizon internet and another modem and the PS3 online worked great on it.

I think a PS3 firmware update broke support for my router. I used to be able to set a DMZ and set my PS3 to that IP and it'd get a NAT2 no problem. After a certain update, nothing I do to my router works and I've been stuck with a NAT3 on that router ever since.
