Forums - Gaming - The best A.I. in First-Person Shooters

Which first-person shooters do you think have the best A.I.?

Here's my top ten:

  1. F.E.A.R.
  2. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky
  3. Crysis Warhread
  4. Killzone 2
  5. Left 4 Dead
  6. Halo 3
  7. Half-Life
  8. SWAT 4
  9. No One Lives Forever 2
  10. Resistance 2

I definitely agree with F.E.A.R. on top. The AI in that game is still amazing.

The Unreal games have always had phenomenal AI in them.  (Unreal, UT, UT2004, etc)

Killzone 2 on Elite. It's like playing against hundreds of human players...who are actually good at the game.

Well, to me, the best AI in any F.P.S game is still the original Half Life game, especially when the Black Helicopters arrive and the soldiers start invading and destroying all evidence of the Black Mesa operations. They were wickedly good.

FEAR and Halo 3/ODST stand out for me.

Games with unimpressive AI
Pray
Quake 4
Doom 3
COD4

The efficiency and wiliness of the Marines actually freaked me out whe I played this game for the first time in 2004.

@Khuutra

Their efficiency and usage of flanking and covering fire strategies caught me completely off guard when I was playing the game for the first time.
One time I was caught in a corridor facing off against three of them, I shot one of them once and he fell to a side corridor. I thought he was dead so I focused on the other two, bad mistake. The other guy went through the side corridor and shot me in the back, I was like "holy shit, outsmarted by a game"xD

Killzone 2, even though it had a shitty single player

This is almost exactly what happened to me.

Another time they actually herded me toward a hand grenade! I think.

Man, that game was awesome.
