A class action lawsuit was filed yesterday against Best Buy alleging that its "Price Match Guarantee" is a fraud.

According to the complaint, the store has an undisclosed "Anti-Price Matching Policy" disseminated from corporate headquarters and there are even financial bonuses for denying price match requests.  The complaint describes an in-store kiosk that brings consumers to an essentially fake website with higher in store prices.

All I know is the one time I tried to get something price matched at Best Buy, they basically laughed in my face. I went to Circuit City instead.

Of course, I was trying to get Spider-man 3 for $6.99 the week it came out on Blu-ray. >_>

I never get price matches when I go to any store. I alwaysend up with some stuck up part timer who tells me she will talk to her manager about it.

I always imagined that sort of thing was neglected, or at least that there was official pressure to put it off as much as possible. It's just a way to get people in the store.

I have never had that problem, they even price matched my TV and knocked off $300 off of it. I know they dont do online pricing, only brick and mortar stores

I think price matching is a joke. All the price match policies essentially say the item has to be in stock, in a local store and they'll match the price. A few stores will give you extra off, but they make it super hard to get the price match. I've found that I'm just best off buying at the cheapest place, and best buy is typically the last place I look for a cheap item.
