Forums - Microsoft - Assassin's Creed DVD Issues Fixed

http://www.kotaku.com.au/games/2007/10/assassins_creed_dvd_issues_fix.html

During the Assassin's Creed demo down at the Australian Maritime Museum today, creative director Patrice Desilets (second from the right) commented on remarks he made two weeks ago on cramming all the game's data onto the Xbox 360's puny DVD format, and into the PS3's questionable memory density.

According to Desilets, his boss (Raymond perhaps? Far right, above) called him the day after the comments were made and they exchanged a few words. All Desilets was willing to say today on the Xbox 360 issue was:
There's no problem anymore. It's gone.

So should be ready for release and maybe go gold soon.

I'm sure they were "fixed" just like PGR4's disk capacity issues were "fixed" which is to say they got a very angry call from MS and were told to tow the party line if knew what was good with them.  Then magically, something that was a problem a few days ago has been solved, no technical details given of course.

PGR4 was released and so will assasins creed so does knowing the techincal details matter?

Or could it simply be a senior executive at Ubisoft reminding an underling that the Xbox 360 is the lead console this generation and if that the Assassin's Creed development team's bonus depends on big sales numbers. With so much competition for the dollar this Christmas season, pissing off Xbox 360 owners simply is not smart.

Wrong. If that was the case, the comment would be flowery talk, that dodges the issue. This comment was short, and to the point. That means they aren't taking back their comments on the DVD size. This means they actually figured out how to fit the data.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

I agree that it definitely looks like his superiors told him to shut up. Probably a wise move, seeing as how even the vaguest comment from a developer is seen to spell doom for a platform these days.

On that note, the memory issue hasn't been solved, so PS3 IZ TEH FAILSES!

Jade Raymond just told him to STFU, she can boss me around whenever she wants.

sounds like he made the comment after the memo got released he just forgot about it. on another note, it seems like they got themselvs in a bit of a bind by going multiplat.. double your flavor double your problems.

I wonder if they figured a way to fit all the original data on a disk or did they degrade the game to fit on a single DVD.
