I'm pretty sure most of the attacks on the Americans have been tongue in cheek =P

Apart from about the metric system.

The company I work for uses the Metric system.   But its not like it matters,  one isnt superior to the other, its just what each country was brought up on.

Ever wonder why the entire world apart from you went through the trouble of changing from imperial to metric?

It's because in practical terms - especially for engineering - the metric system is many many times better.

Well from what is sounds like according to a couple of posters on here,  even the UK hasnt gone completely metric themselves having some road signs still in MPH and such.

And you are wrong about the engineering part.   The metric system is not superior to the imperical system.

I don't see why you say 'even the UK' considering they didn't pick it up for ages, in fact the USA actually signed the Metre Convention before they did.

As for engineering, it quite simply is.

We as a society work with a modulus ten number system, this makes it logical to have our measurements in modulus ten. Calculations are simpler in metric than in imperial and make more sense with scientific numbering. Not only that but how do you measure a micrometre in imperial systems? Or even more so, a nanometre?

Is that double negative...
Oh god with all this talk on spelling and grammar and the metric system I'm having flashbacks to when I was at school.
I'm just as confused now as I was back then.

No, not the cane, I'll be good, please don't make me eat the custard!

Lol. America gets what it wants and we bend over. That's not an alliance. It's a team up but not an alliance.
