Forums - Microsoft - Halo: Reach - First 15 milion seller ?

Why would Reach sell more than Halo 3? I really don't see why it would. Halo 2 outsold the first, but the first lacked online multiplayer. What does Reach have that will make most Halo 3 owners and even more people buy it?

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

15 million....? no way...maybe around 5-6mn lifetime...

You probably meant "5-6m first week".

Some PS3 owners should stop being trolls, really. If you don't have anything to say just don't write anything. Halo 3 sold 5m in first 3 weeks...

Halo 3 is the staple game of the 360. Dozens of my friends who have bought 360s got Halo 3 as their first game, and that's not going to change any time soon. 15 million is already a stretch for Halo 3 alone, so I really don't see Halo: Reach getting anywhere near that. It will have very respectable numbers, but not 15 million. Stop overhyping the game so damn much.

Could've not had said it any better. Total agreement here.

Halo 2 outsold Halo: CE because it was the poster child for xbox live and had an insane marketing campaign. Halo 3 outsold Halo 2 because the 360 is a software sales beast and it had an insaner marketing campaign.

So what does Halo Reach have going for it? We know nothing about it, Call of Duty has stolen much of Halo's thunder and it doesn't even have a number in the title.

COD sold Halo's thunder...but Halo games are at the top of Multiplayer stats???  It's great to see non 360 gamers have such insight into the playing habits of 360 gamers....lol!

I don't know about 15 million man. Its got the Halo name so it should sell well but I doubt that well.

I don't know of a series where a spinoff has outsold a main series game. I doubt neither ODST nor Reach will even touch Halo 3's huge sales.

You do realise Reach isn't a spinoff, right? It's a brand new main game. It is the biggest story of the main game story to be brought to the series. The Fall Of Reach is the beginning. It's how Masterchief ends up the only spartan left. It will be a fully fleshed new engined game. It's effectively Halo 4.

I would personally guarantee Microsoft the game would sell more copies if it was named Halo 4 instead of Halo Reach.

What was the install base when Halo 3 was released?

Halo: Reach to top 15 million easily.

Halo 3 when all is said and done........... 12 million+

Gran Turismo 4 didn't outsell Gran Turismo 3, MGS3 didn't outsell MGS2, despite a significantly larger install base.

There's more to it than that.

Yes it could it will be a main Halo, so it will get the Halo 3 reception.
