Am i the only one that thinks Lords of Shadow is going to be seen as a big mistake?

I don't know, i've just rarely seen particularly good results when a Western studio re-invisioned a Japanese game (though Metroid Prime is the huge, huge exception to that)

No, many people are throwing up theories to why the game could be bad, from being a 'clone of GoW' to 'a western studio is doing it' to 'its yet another reboot of the series' to 'it doesn't look like Castlevania'.  But in the end, its all skepticism and we haven't seem the actual finished product.  Some of these theories could be correct, but then again the game could be exactly what the series needs.  A complete fresh start with new production studios working on them.

On my end, that's what I've been saying the series needed for years.  Its been obvious that the series has been growing stale for years.  And while IGA developed a formula that had a solid fanbase, it was a solid fanbase that wasn't developing any new fans and wasn't going to sell large amounts of games.  A well developed, AA quality 3D Castlevania is exactly what the series probably needs right now to pump new blood into it.  Because while the series has that solid 2D genre down, its failed to get a good 3D game down.  And as many other series has shown us (Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Ninja Gaiden, Prince of Persia, etc), you do best when you cater to both markets.

No, you aren't. I think it's actually the default assumption where people aren't hero-worshipping Kojima. Took me a while to pull my own optimism out of the gutter.

But I enjoyed Legacy of Darkness. I'll end up enjoying this too, one way or the other.

I am the one of the bigger castlevania fans on the site and I am quite sceptical about the new Kojima-son game. From what I've heard he s doing the story and a western studio is doing the gameplay.

It needs to be the other way around...he needs to do gameplay and should not be allowed near a story board again.

They will need to evolve the franchise if its to succeed on any level. I would like an ultimate 2D castlevania in HD though... I heard Wii is getting a remake of part 1 in the meantime.
