I use it all the time. Meet in a public place and you should be fine.
I sold a few things on craiglist..
You need to follow some rules.
Always use "First Come, First Serve" first person that shows up with the money gets it.
Never have the person come to your house to pick up the item
Meet in a populated area
Always set the destination or place to meet, not the buyer
Bring a friend
