Well I won't use method 2 exclusively.... so it's either method 1... or the average of method 1 and 2.

depends what you lot think is best.

--- @theprof... well mine are higher than most other predictors.... but so far this year the PS3, X360 and DS are about similar to last year.... while Wii and PSP are down quite a bit.

overall I am expecting 31,500,000 units for the 5 this years 10-weeks..... compared to last years ~34,727,000.... that's only a 9% decrease.
but as I explained I am probably going to increase PS3 and Wii a little bit in my edit, and possibly DS too, but combined probalby only about 500-750k.... which brings it to 7-8% decrease.

You are currently predicting an 11% increase

Around the Network

only because of the almost 100% increase on ps3 sales. Everything else is almost exactly in line with last year.

I am thinking of editting some of the values though. Im probably going to change the ps3 sales and some others, maybe DS and psp down slightly

i edited my wii numbers i will most likely keep the others the same

How about just using method one but also include a maximum of points you can get from 1 prediction (for instance 50 points) to better balance over and underpredicting?

Another question, will there also be points awarded for total numbers for the last 10 weeks and highest weekly sales and if so how will you weigh these compared to the weekly sales points?

But then people wouldn't be penalised for being way off mark.

And yes... I didn't do it for last years results, but I was always planning to include the total sales into it... probably add a score for it to peoples totals... but multiply it by 3 or 5. So for instance if after the 10 weeks you get 700 points (which would be a phenomenally low score come to think of it, as the DS and PSP are added) then I would work out the discrepancy for your total sales prediction.... and multiply it by say 5.... most people should get the total within 5-10% I think, which would probably equate to about 25-50 points per console.

I don't think I will do anything with the highest weekly sales though... perhaps just a seperate "award" for it.

That's true and I'm not sure 50 points is the right amount, but I assume at some point not that many predictions should end up over it anyway. But I'm fine with a combination with your 2 methods as well.

As for a factor for the total sales numbers, a factor 5 sounds pretty well to me. It means total numbers would make up one third of the final results.

Whatever he used last year will work fine this year.
