The majority of Wii games, especially from third parties, don't sell. At least I think that was what he was trying to establish.

The only good thing he said were about Guiter hero 3 and Smackdown. Interesting too see how well they will sell, If I remember right madden08 bombed on Wii.
Was it my imagination or did that "Analyst" have the english skills of a highschool student?
There is no doubt that third party games have not sold particularly well on the Wii, but the important thing isn't what the total sales were it was how the sales matched up to expected sales. Third party publishers are not (that) dumb, they realize that the "Best" games on a system tend to sell far better than most games and are only (really) upset when a game fails to meet expectations; and (potentially) only really upset when a collection of games fails to meet expectations because there will always be games that fail to meet expectations on any platform.
From what we have heard so far I don't really think that publishers are upset with sales nearly as much as they are confused about what they should produce for the Wii. Most third party games have fallen into two seperate categories, games exactly like PS2/XBox games with tacked on Wiimote controlls and games based on a stereotype of what type of games "Casual" gamers want.
The problem with his prediction about the PS3 is that (like many well paid analysts) he doesn't really understand how much money $400 is for the typical household. In the USA the median household income is $44,000 with 68% of households making less than $75,000 and 85% making less than $100,000 per year. (Numbers from Wikipedia)

He also said that most games on the Wii are crap. Maybe it's just me, but I think there's some connection between "crappy games" and "3rd party games don't sell well on the Wii". |
Those were my thoughts as well. I agree with his thought about GH III, that is a game that should sell well on Wii. The WWE game I have my doubts though. I'm not sure that Wii controls add a lot to that game and if it is not much more than a PS2 port with tacked on controls you can't really expect it doing too well.
I also liked the part about "half-baked adaptations of 360 games". Very ironic.

Um I make less than $44000 a year and I have all three. Also the XBox 360 wasn't expensive at $399 I take it? At least try to hide your bias.

You make less than $44,000 or your household makes less than $44,000?
Do you live with your parents or on your own?
Are you Single or Married?
How many dependants do you have?
Do you rent or own?
A single guy living on his own (or worse with his parents) is not really representative of the market as a whole ...
People keep talking about how gamers (in general) are becomming older and diverting away from the stereotype of being a 18 year old slacker, living in his parents basement, and wasting his life away and yet we still look at their disposable income as being representative of the market as a whole. When you're feeding, clothing and sheltering a wife and children $44,000 a year is a tiny ammount of money; in many parts of the country you'd be lucky to be able to afford $400 a year in total on entertainment ...

It will outsell everything including oil, milk, and porn?
Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.
Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Haven't you learned that your facts and common sense have no place around here. Don't you know everyone is dirt poor and can afford all three systems, TV companies love Sony as much as Sony fanboys and gives them ad time for next to nothing, and programmers are all such huge Sony fanboys that they work on Sony games for minimum wage and no benefits to keep costs down (just to name three recent occasions I recall).
I agree with you thought that most gamers don't understand how much $400 is for a normal family. Heck, even $250 is a lot. My older cousins are all middle class and married with kids and even a Wii is too expensive for them.
