Forums - General - Any other demoralized Irish Football Fans out there?

I am so tired of loosing to USC, and I am becoming more and more tired of Charlie Weis.  This team has too much talent to be sitting at 4-2 and I am growing weary that we are not ever going to get any better with Weis on the defensive side of the ball.   If the defense was just half as good as the average team, they would be 6-0 right now.  I am very pleased with Clausen thought all around, he has become humble, very durable, accurate, clutch.  I once again hang my head and wonder when, if ever, the echos will once again awaken.

I thought this was about Irish football. But American football makes much more sense because Ireland made the playoffs and is still in the running for the World Cup.

They should have fired Charlie Weis a long time ago, and I'm suprised they didn't.

Another very discouraging loss to USC, except this time, it was heart wrenching defeat instead of embarrassing. I am not sure what is better.

Hah. What's funny is, i thought this was going to be about Ireland's seeding in WC qualifiers.

Yeah, but they're getting screwed by the FIFA.  They always default to seeding whenever a big boy or two stuggles... and ONLY then.

Pot A
TeamRank
 France 9
 Portugal 10
 Russia 12
 Greece 16
Pot B
TeamRank
 Ukraine 22
 Republic of Ireland 34
 Bosnia and Herzegovina 42
 Slovenia 49

How exactly is that going to work?  Will higher seeds get to play lower seeds?

A team in Pot A will play a team in Pot B.  They will play each other twice.   The team that wins or wins and then ties, qualifies for the world cup.

If they both tie, or both W&L a tiebreaker will be played on an "even" site.  4 more teams will qualify.

Traditionally there wouldn't be two "Pots" instead it would just be fully random pairings.

However last world cup when Spain was fearing elimination they went with an absolute pairing.  Best vs worst etc because they couldn't be without spain in their minds.

People were generally pissed off about that... so they're doing this... mostly because they can't do without Portugal and one of their big draws.  People are still generally upset.

Ahh.. Notre Dame.... I hope they never win another game again in their existence.

Also, they need to man up and play by the rules for the rest of College Football and join a conference and not play the "special rules" they have for them to get into the BCS.

And if not for Purdue calling a timeout with seconds left in their game, chances are ND would be 3-3 right now. What a doofus Purdue's coach is for that.

I think 2 pots of 4 is fair, but it should be the ones that made it better in the group stage, Ukraine is getting screwed because they scored more points and Portugal is getting very benefitiated. But I guess that a Portugal-France match is not very rentable for the FIFA as one wouldn't make it to the WC....let's hope that neither does so they get double-screwed, hehe

I think that, given that VGChart'z non-USA community is so large, it might be best to title these threads with "Gridiron" instead of "Football". Or Hell, "Gridiron Football" would work too.

Just an idea.
