Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft to Crack down on Non Microsoft Produced Accessories

I have a funny feeling this will only affect 3rd party memory cards and HDD's that have been modified using a key used hundreds of times. I think I will probably make myself a clone of my 120GB HDD in the near future using my official HDD as a donor to clone its details. This is primarily to stop cheap chinese HDD's of which hundreds are available daily on ebay.

It will indeed suck for some consumers though so not great news.

I'm glad to see any moves that M$ makes to piss off the trolls and haters.

C'mon man. Don't paint everyone with the same brush.

I am seriously considering getting a x360 next year but stuff like this put me off.

I already have two 320GB drives that can physically be used in (or externally by USB) a x360 now I will have to shell out more $£ for a smaller drive.

*I am not one of those people that blindly follow a company even if they fleece me out of every penny and I smile while they do it.

That is going into the realms of religion and I am not religious.

I like pissing trolls of as much as anyone else but why should I have to pay for it indirectly by MS's actions.

If I hit skid row tomorrow MS/Sony/Nintendo or any other global company won't bail me out so I owe them jack.

All i want is the best deal - the biggest bang for my buck and not be treated like a mug.

You may agree or disagree but I have my opinions and you yours and ultimately we live and die by them.

LOL...how did you glean I'm talking about EVERYBODY...wasn't I very critical of the stance of HDD?!?!  M$ stance is YOU MUST HAVE A LICENSE...not that no 3rd party are allowed...

Right, but microsoft will not sell the liscence to anyone. They are making truckloads of money on HDD sales at the expense of us, the gamer.

Again there is more example than just the HDD. If Logitech could get a license from Mircosoft I have no doubt their new G27 Racing wheel would support 360. I mean come on , these steering wheels are expensive, only work with racing game, and take up a lot of room, It would be nice if for once Microsoft think about the gamers to allow G25/G27 owners use their wheel for 360,PS3 and PC. Then again maybe Sony has it hand on this one as well.
