Forums - Microsoft - Lost Odyssey Help

Alright, I got stuck on the first disc of Lost Odyssey a long time ago. Fired it up again today and am still stuck on the exact same part. I'm at the battle after you come across the children picking flowers. You're fighting these soldiers that use this cheap rush attack where they ram you with their horses, and every time it does like 300 damage. I've tried every way I can think of to beat them. What am I doing wrong?

Focus on one at a time, having both Seth and Kaim attack the same target, while Jansen casts magic.
If you bought two Steel Swords from Ninn's Boutique in Numara, Seth and Kaim may finish a target off on their own (they have 300HP), allowing Jansen to hit another one with his magic, giving you a good head start.
Have Jansen stop and use Zephyr if your party members' HP drops below 200; the Cavalries have an attack called Rush that does damage in the high 100s.
They're the larger concern, but the thing is, they're in the back row so you can't get them until you take out some of the soldiers first. If you don't mess up too much with the ring targeting system though, and you land some perfects, the battle should prove to be quite possible.

Yeah, that doesn't help at all. I'm not getting hit in the high 100s, I'm get hit over 300 damage. This is so much crap. I'm trying hard to like this game, but this is a pain in the freaking ass.

HALLEFREAKINGLUJAH! Just gave it another go and it actually worked! Actually decided to have Jansen use All Shield first and it worked out much better with no one dying! Thanks!

Try grinding a bit so you can do more damage and take less... i got stuck on that part as well.....further on you will find some much chaper battles ;)

Did you upgrade your armor in Namira? At the early stages of the game, inventory is more important than levels. Also make sure to check your character formations as well. It's funny I didn't had any trouble with that fight, but the worm bosses at the Staff Construction Site killed me twice xD

Good for you to finally getting it done ;) But as kowenicki said, it's only going to get much harder from now on ;)

Hush you!

I don't remember if I upgraded my armor or not. This is my first time playing it in like three months. Be prepared for this thread to come up again whenever I get stuck, which will be a few more times I'd reckon.

Make sure you understand the Rings System and definitely link your immortals to a mortal to learn their abilities. Your team should be pretty unstoppable throughout most of the adventure if you plan things out right.
