Forums - Gaming - Help me to buy my first HDTV

I became a plasma fan reading some fanboys forum, I was sure to buy one, but, now reading some serious reviews and stuff I saw that plasma isn't that superior to conventional LCD or LED, depends on the model. Plasma became no option to me because I can't find it at any store in my city, and prices at internet are ridiculously high. I'm in doubt of three LCD models

Samsung 40B650

Samsung 46B530

Sony Z4100

Someone here own any of those?

Buy one of the Samsung LED TV's. Fantastic picture and super slim.

Those are all really good LCDs, It's really very hard to go wrong with anything made by Samsung, Sony, or LG when it comes to HDTVs.

I personally know someone who has the Samsung 40B650 you have listed there, and I must say it's probably one of the best LCDs I've personally witnessed. I'm sure the others listed there are just as good though.

However isn't the Samsung 40B650 120hz? You may be paying top dollar for something you might not really utilize. If it was my choice I'd probably go with the Samsung 46B530 over that, probably a bit cheaper and a bigger tv never hurts.

Just something to think about.

And pretty expensive, but thanks to the help anyway. Thinking in Reais, the tvs listed costs in order

3800

3700

3500

The basic LED tv costs 5000...

Check for sales... Ive seen 40" Samsung LED's as low as $1599 USD at Best Buy.

I'd personally go with a top of the line lcd,It will be just as good as the led or better for cheaper,i hear leds also have a side view problem.

Well, you could get a 55" LG LCD for $1399.99 :|. Or even a 52" Samsung LCD for the same price.

Plasmas are the worst HDTV's. LCD is the way to go.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 > Modern Warfare 2

get the sony.
samsung service it's terrible, they never actually fix the TV, and they have jerks managing their service centers.

sony offers 4 years warranties in some country so check out their XBR range.

Actually the Pioneer Kuro Line of plasmas was consistently the highest rated TV available.

Unfortunately, Pioneer gave up on making Plasmas

Plasmas generally offer superior black levels over LCD's, higher contrast, and more accurate colors.  The cheaper cost of production on LCD's and the size of LCD's (LED backlit LCD's are 1" thick) put the crunch on Plasma.  LCD technology has come along way in the past couple of years so the differences between plasma and LCD has been greatly reduced.

Also a larger size TV doesn't always make it better.  There's a lot of factors when purchasing a TV.  The worst thing that could happen is having buyer's remorse because you didn't spring the extra couple hundred bucks for the higher quality TV.
