What did InsideSimRacing give Forza 3 for damage? I think it was pretty good, damage isn't just visual, there are internal things that go wrong. Such as fucking up when using the clutch.

They actually gave Damage 5/5, and said it's the best representation of damage in a game as a whole. Whether it be the user braking the clutch or visual damage.

Yes I am. I'm sue you know I am getting a PS3 for christmas if youve read my threads. And the fact that I probably wont be able to pick up an EU copy of GT5 till holiday 2010, I will have had plenty of time to finish FM3.

yahh ha sure. They are working on real damage not that prerendered visual stuff of forza some of you love so much. Thats the differance between Gt and Forza fanbase, one is fine with fake as long as its eye pleasing the other wants real damage with physics behind. Damage as in aredynamics all out of whack messed up camber alignment. Look at the speed the cars crash in forza streight into a wall like that would tottal the car, its just so damn fake. Great racer but no sim, Gt strives to be as good a sim as possible Forza does not. As much as they are said to go after the same people they don't. GT goes for the auto enthusiast while Forza the 16 year old that wants stickers and a big wing on his car. Iam not saying pd will mnage to do what thye want surely not on all the cars. But id rather have real damage on the race cars then fake stuff on everything. Hell id rather have a wind tunnel ingame to mess with aero stuff then all the body kits and damge stuff. My car would not go past 200kph but damn it woudl stick during cornering. But thats just me. |
Do you know anything about FM3? Your comments tell me you don't? FM3 is full aerodynamic modelling. Based on Mclarens billion dollar simulator. Getting in a slipstream and then pulling out to overtake has the car hit turbulent air affecting the car. Use a wheel with forcefeedback and this is so apparant. You say GT goes for auto enthusiast and FM for 16 year old. Major LOL. Thats why the physics in FM3 have beat PC sims. LOL. Proper tyre flex and deformation that affects the cars handling, proper downforce due to realtime aerodynamic modelling. Use the clutch wrong or to heavy will result in you screwing up your gears. The list goes on.
People keep saying Polyphony are working on new engines for damage etc. I'm not as nieve as many. 5 months till release. Hate to break it to you, but new engines etc normally take 12-18 months to design and are undertaken in the first phase of development. Dont expect GT5 to be much different to what youve already witnessed. If it is going to be, expect the release date to slip for Japan from March to the holidays.

Yeah, I remember them saying it was best in class for sim games I think.

I would be very surprised if that's the case...

Really? In my experience of all things Sony released we normally have to wait alot longer. I remeber GT3. We waited ages while Japan had it. I expect if GT5 is released in March for Japan that EU will get it anytime from 1st October onwards.

If they gave Forza a 5, what would they give Dirt and Grid? 10/5?

Not sure, but they just reviewed Dirt 2, so take a look. And keep in mind, these guys know their shit about sim racing games. More so than 99% of other reviewers out there.
@Selnor
You are correct, japan had the game since april 2001 while us in EU had it only in july 2001. But wasn't it like that with every japanase developed game in the past gen? Due to Jap - Eu conversion taking months to do in the older formats, we only got these kind of games a lot later, wheter it was GT, FF, SOTC and many others.
This kind of scenario can be overcome in this gen when companies want to, just look at MGS4, Uncharted 2, hell, even Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon took an even shorter time to port from Jap to EU/NA than it normaly would have taken last gen.
