Forums - Gaming - Is Wii Fit Fair Game???

Some seem to forget that Nintendo is trying to market the ENTIRE household. Wii Fit is for the non-videogame playing parents and Zelda is for the videogame playing children. This is how you get a family to choose the Wii for Christmas. It contains something for everyone.

Nintendo has manged to create this expanded market without compromising it's image of classic gaming through it's most respected franchises. I've never seen such a fat roster of first party titles in the inaugural year of a system. Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Zelda:Twilight Princess, Mario Strikers Charged, Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, Mario Party 8, Super Paper Mario, a Mario Kart clone(Donkey Kong Barrel Blast) and an Excitebike successor(Excite Truck). It took years for the GC and N64 to get that sort of roster built up.

On top of that, third parties are in the beginning stages of putting in a solid effort. Some minor franchises are switching to the Wii, which could become major ones as time goes on.

Wii Fit is of the new variety. Just as how Nintendo is the late comer to online, Microsoft and Sony will play the latecomers for the expanded market. Don't think they're ignoring it though. Microsoft has Scene It? coming out and Sony has tried to recreate Brain Age five times over on the PSP.
