Forums - Microsoft - Maybe now I'll see why my 360 is so superior to my Wii?

My flatmates and I just got a brand new 42" 1080p panasonic TV!

I'm very excited as I've never even owned a widescreen before. This weekend I'll get to hook my 360 up to it. The first game I'll be playing? Batman: AA - not  a bad choice for my first experience of HD gaming, I hope you'll agree.

Now maybe I'll get to see what all the HD gaming fuss is about. In my head I've always been more of a Wii gamer. Maybe this will change my opinions, who knows...

P.S. Can someone explain HDMI cables to me? Do I need one to get the proper HD experience? Does it matter what kind of HDMI cable I buy? I was going to buy one from Game here in the UK. Thanks.

The quality of the cable really only matters at longer distances, like longer than 30 ft(10m).  I have bought all of mine at monoprice.com, they all work perfectly

If you're talking HDMI vs component (red/green/blue cables) you probably won't see a huge difference on your TV, but if you're talking about HDMI vs composite (yellow video cable) it's a huge difference. Just for cost and ease of use I'd go HDMI though and get the cheapest cable you can, digital is not like analog, it either works or it doesn't, there is no degrading of picture quality because of crappy cables.

I buy HDMI cables from Monoprice online for 5 bucks and they work great. Don't buy into any monster cable crap.

How would you know, batman isn't on the Wii so you don't have anything to compare it to!

You should start your HD gaming experience with Viva Pinata

Yeah but he doesn't have it on Wii

You will want HDMI as soon as possible. So much better then the cords that come with the xbox.

=D I figured out what you meant. I am just too lazy to edit my posts

And I think he may have meant the difference between sd and hd
