Forums - Gaming - Would you rather play Sports in a Video Game or Real Life?

Real life. Gaming is great and all. But NOTHING beats the exhilaration and rush i get from playing Sports. If I had a baseball diamond and a couple of friends that played, Id be playing Baseball a lot more then I normally do. Same with Football. I went on Vacation this summer and missed out on a lot of Football and Soccer games. But I still played some Basketball.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I don't see how either needs to really be picked. They fill different needs. I like the active nature of going out and playing sports, but at the same time, joining a pickup game is not the same thing as controlling your favorite teams and going through a season mode against all your league rivals on the way to a championship. The way other games give you an escape is the same way professional sports games do.

real life, nothing like kicking someone in the shins in real football and watching them fall to the ground

in real life, its alot more fun. IMO, video games should be fun things that YOU CANT DO in real life.
For example, CoD4 is fun, but the closest thing I could get to that in real life is paintballing. Wii Sports on the other hand, I could easily go play the sports with friends. I havent played golf, so I wont comment on that, but Football and baseball are ATLEAST 100% more fun in real life then in a video game.

Well if I could in real life of course. But due to the severity of my ankle injuries after playing years of baseball it's kinda difficult for me to do play any of them. But I'd still rather play them in real life than in video games. Unless it's an arcade sports title like old school Blitz and Hitz titles from Midway. Only sports titles I've bought recently are the Tiger Woods Wii games and some Mario sports titles.
