He averted a new cold war with Russia by scrapping that missile defense nonsense in Eastern Europe. So, YES he deserves it.

He gives half of Europe to russians. So, NO he doesn't deserve it.

Feeding crocodile never ends well.

The only people who are interested in pissing off the Russians are those who are heavily invested in U.S. defense contractors.

Where we ever really that close ot anything actually happening like that?

The threat of buiding one was enough to spark a new arms race.

I think what's funnier is the republican whining over the prize being awarded to Obama, even if you don't think he deserves it, trying to criticize him for receiving an award he wasn't even trying to get just makes them seem petty and without class.

No. He hasnt done anything. Obamas has TRIED to do things peacfully, but if tring gets you places i should be president.

He is probably from Poland. And in Poland and other eastern European Countries they are afraid of Russia because they were 50 years under their Regime. They just are afraid that the western world let the same thing happen which happened before. All the old Russian satellite states. Have a deep aversion agains Russia because they dictatet their Life and stole their future. And especially Poland first the Germans (and Russians they took the East) came and demolished the Country then came just the russians and controlled the Country for 50 years and denied a possible Economical Prosperity.

So naturaly they are against it. But the rest of Europe are glad that the Rocket Shield is beeing cancelled. Because that would just result in big Troubles between Russia and the Western World and Europe has a heavy dependancy on Russian Gas and they were afraid maybe they would use this as a Weapon. Russia has changed they are addicted to money and depends on the global markets as China, the only country on the Planet which does everything to avoid to be part on global economy is North Korea and they can just survive because South Korea is helping them because they have Compassion with the People which are suffering due to here regime.

Russia's already been pushing it.  What with Georgia (still a big issue by them.) and meddling in other such countries.

I think he's promoting peace and pushing hard whoever he can to be reasonable towards their foes, but I think also that it's way too early to give him a Nobel. Unless the committee did it so that he feels compelled to multiply his efforts, and given the great power USA have, this could really favour peace achievement.

Obama just jumped the Shark. it's all downhill from here for him.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.
 — Pat Buchanan – A Republic, Not an Empire

Actually, its uphill for him from here tyrannical, presidential approval and party success are correlated very closely to changes in unemployment, rising unemployment is bad for prez approval, while falling is very good, the reason Obama's rating has been dropping is due in no small part to the growing dissatisfaction with the employment picture. However unemployment is nearing its peak, and jobs are expected to begin to be added to the economy early next year, at which point Obama's approval ratings are going to go up, so in fact Obama is currently at or near his low point, at least for his first term.
