Forums - Gaming - Why is there no games based on World war 1?

Probably because the holocaust and bombing of Pearl Harbor make the Nazi's and Emperial Japan such great villians. Think about how few games are made about the Korean War, Vietnam war, or War of 1812.

People love to make games about WW2, American Civil War and the Revolutionary war where they have a wonderful enemy to hate on.

Also a number of aerial combat games have been made about WW1, which if I recall correctly involve killing the evil red baron....

Hitler was Jewish fully...
His father's original name was frankenburger.. then changed it when he married a Jewish woman, as his second wife, and who was Hitler's mother.

Just like Karl Marx, Hitler was a self-hating Jew. Ironic eh?

Honestly, do JRPG makers even realize how hard it is to save the world? That shit is impossible!

There's tons of them like Ace of World War I, Wings of Glory, Sky Knights and more.  Heck there was even some on consoles like PSX.  Just use google.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

I dont think he was a good man at all, for me he was a mad guy, but Ive noticed most people speak about hitler like he was the devil.

Anyway, I would like to see one, Im tired of the WW2 setting. Seems like every FPS has or Nazis, Muslims or Aliens as enemies, so maybe I would like more in which you get to pick sides and actually understand war from both points of view instead of being the bad guys or the good guys.

Trench shootout w/artillery backup ---> rush at enemy trenches ----> repeat

not very interesting, if you ask moi.

Then be like the other WW2 games and make shit up.

What you thought all those battles you played in Call of Duty were REALISTIC?

It would really get boring.

Yeah totally brah, when I was in the trench it was like zzzzz's all around.  Not the fear of instant death, disease of rotting corpses, mustard gas or being pelted by shells.  WW1 was a cake walk.  It should of being like WW2 where one person just guns down 50 people who keep coming out of one bunker for some reason.

Infantry warfare in WW1 would be utterly boring. Automatic weapons weren't even hardly available, except as mounted weapons, and even then they were rare.

Most of the automatic weapons in WW2 (like the BAR, and the Thompson SMG) weren't even invented until WW1 was basically over. That said, WW1 spurned the development of more effective infantry weapons -- but it never really saw them in action.

Flight Combat is basically the only interesting part of WW1, and as someone said before me, flightsims went out of style in the late 90s.

Dynamix's Red Baron 3D was the last truly great WW1 sim, and although it supported hardware 3D, it was only on 3Dfx, via 3Dfx Glide. Maybe a year later, a whole slew of WW2 flightsims got released at the same time, and all of them had mediocre sales (probably largely due to competition).. and then the whole historical flight genre basically got canned by Dynamix's parent company (Sierra, and their parent.. Vivendi?), EA (who made the Janes flightsims) and Microsoft (who made a combat version of their own flightsim.. a division which hasn't released even a civilian sim to the public in years, they finally closed the doors on just this past year).

There were some other contenders (I forget who made European Air War, or who made those cruddy WW1 competitors that Red Baron had, for example), but they were pretty minor players.

Even the recently released console versions of IL-2 are just ports of a fairly old PC game.

USA was not involved like in WWII. It was a war based on one front, A game like Valkyria Chronicles would be the best gameplay for a WWI game in my opinion.

First sentence so? Second yeah that would work VC would be a great game to put in that setting when i think about it..

Less involved, less talked about, less thought about, less educated about school (also counts for Europe maybe not the UK) less interesting to make a game about;..While FPS war games comes especially from USA.

And now we are talking about wars....I want a war game about the civil war in USA. It is in my opinion the most interesting stuff in USA's history but also probably a very sensitive one to make a game about...Especially if the South will get portrayed as evil (something that would happen).

There is a Civil War game, go lock it up on Youtube. Can't remember the name but search for " History Channel Civil War Game"
