Forums - Microsoft - Natal named in 10 Most Brilliant Innovators of 2009 by Popular Mechanics

Well atleast it isn't a "Wand" like device with buttons that reacts to a sensor like everyone else thinks is the trend. Technically speaking this has motion control for real, no physical buttons or remote to control it.

I would not say that the VGC Community consider Natal will fail, it just appears that way due to the large numbers of PS3 supporters and possibly Wii although it does always seem to be PS3 supporters for the most part.

No amount of positive FM3 or Natal press or reviews will prevent them picking out one tiny negative commment, peddling it, exagerating it and ultimately misrepresenting it.

It is unfortunate but every positive Microsoft based thread is matched with an unequal and opposite reaction. That is the science of VGC.

The same could be said about 360 or Wii fanboys who attack PS3 threads.

The difference being there are more PS3 supporters here than there are 360 or wii ones.  Not to mention the hate seems to be mainly focused on Natal and Forza 3.  I don't know if its because it scares a lot of them or what.

I agree with you about Natal, I don't understand the reasons behind the hate either.

However, I disagree with you about Forza 3. The reason why PS3 fan(boy)s are hating on Forza 3 is because Turn 10 are being far too cocky about their game and always talking down GT. I personally don't have anything against this, it's only a form of business, but not many people care to look at it from a business perspective, but rather subjectively, so I can't say I blame them. Plus, I see 360 fanboys saying things like "Forza 3>>>>>>GT5" and the sort when the 2 games haven't been released yet, so that only adds to the flames.

Wonderful, Praise where it is deserved! this is something i feel MS did RIGHT this gen, it doesn't make up for the JRPG's mistakes but its a fitting win.

It could but it would not be true at least on the scale that I am talking about. You are always going to get some, it is the volume and blindness that makes it stand out.

The Microsoft brand is one reason why this happens in my opinion mainly because it is seen as the big bad corporate software house and the obligatory M$ is a direct corolation to that. Even though I do not see anything that Microsoft has done with the 360 to warrant some of the attacks it gets. Even the RROD was handled well (Post RROD obviously), and when people talk about class actions they probably do not understand that Microsoft have probably stumped up more for the RROD warranty than they would of lost in a Class action. Often it is not the recall or the warranty deal that people remember it is how the company handled it, I think they did a good job handling a PR disaster and saved the 360 from certain doom.

Maybe it is because I owe my livelyhood to Microsoft but then again I started life as a Novel Administrator and never hated them for crushing it to death even though in many ways it was superior.

Winner of the 2010 VGC Holiday sales prediction thread with an Average 1.6% accuracy rating. I am indeed awesome.

Kinect as seen by PS3 owners ...if you can pick at it   ...post it ... Did I mention the 360 was black and Shinny? Keeping Sigs obscure since 2007, Passed by the Sig police 5July10.

I see it mainly being the volume. I have noticed there are more PS3 supporters on this website than 360 or Wii supporters, but in terms of blindness, all fanboys are equally blind from what I've seen.

The problem with people who attack big corporations is that they don't understand business. They ignore the goal of a business, which is to make money and gain strong marketshare by any means possible. One thing I noticed people attack Microsoft for is their unoriginality. But if I'm not mistaken, Bill Gates clearly stated he makes his fortune recycling the trash of other companies, and it payed off for him. I'm also positive M$ moneyhat other companies in the video game business for exclusives, PR stunts, etc., but I don't criticize it like how fanboys do.

The US must really love Microsoft to overhype this so much...

The US press bashes Microsoft all the time.  Antitrust articles, job losses, Zune sales, Vista issues, Xbox 360 RRoD, etc.  What you say has zero factual merit and seems fueled by nature of the fact you are a PS3 fanboy.

I think reporting on XBox 360 mass failure reports, job losses or antitrust issues, etc is merely reporting. Bashing would be editorial added comments. Sadly most US news sources do very little unbiased reporting.

I think if Microsoft would be an Iranian company, the company would have received a lot more bashing for its wrongdoings. IMO Microsoft has been handled very mildly considering events. I don't think Sony or any other Japanese company would have been able to bypass RROD or antitrust issues like Microsoft was able to.

I take your two no-named websites milo negative previews and raise you two positive IGN and eurogamer previews

I wasn't saying the fake was a bad fake. Note that at VGChartz my initial repsonse was very positive towards Natal.

But IMO they should have waited until they had something real to show. Now it just looked like they wanted to attract interest towards something which still had very little basis. Not good for real existing innovations which get fewer attention at the show.

PS3 vs 360 sales

As much as it seems weird on video, the vast majority of people that have tried it and shared their experiences say it's pretty cool. Guys from all different game sites say it has great potential, non-biased tech sites, mainstream consumer sites, etc. etc. Either MS is paying a whole lot in bribes, or they have something here.

Now, not all critiques have been positive, of course, but most of them are at least "has a lot of potential, but I don't want to play an FPS or drive this way". But these are really all still tech demoes. Someone way smarter than us is going to find a really cool use of this tech. The big concern is just that EVERY game isn't all "waggle". But if it works close to what they hope, it has the potential to be a game-changer.

Time will tell...

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

It was E3, so it was pretty much now or never
